I haven’t been up to that speed yet, but I’ve seen it posted elsewhere that it was not removed.

You’re welcome! This thread has been the biggest mess I’ve ever seen…

After driving the truck several times, I can say that I would absolutely buy the tune again without hesitation! The transmission seems much more intelligent. It holds gears longer when necessary - I felt the truck often short shifted when under load - more specifically when accelerating normally or just a bit more aggressively than that. The shifts are also more crisp but not so much so that they are harsh. As for whether the transmission will handle the torque, I don’t foresee that being an issue. You have to remember that there’s a safety factor built in to the published ratings. Unless you’re going to abuse the truck regularly on a drag strip with a prepped surface, you should be fine.

I personally don’t plan to get a transmission cooler - I don’t use the truck often enough in extreme cases where I feel it would be necessary or beneficial. For the time being though, I’ll keep my transmission temp gauge on the dashboard. I do plan on a larger intercooler though. If you haven’t run one on an EcoBoost motor before, you will absolutely love it!
Thanks again! I'll definately consider the intercooler before the transmission cooler after monitoring the new temps like you said.

How will the tune you now have work with a intercooler?
Is the Ford tuner tuneable? Or if you add the intercooler will you have to buy another tuner? This is getting a little off topic but was wondering. I’m a Whipple man and Whipple has the intercooler and a tuner.
I don’t consider an intercooler (at least on a Raptor - I can’t say for sure what it does on your Mustang) to be a modification that would require an adjustment to the tune. The intercooler doesn’t add much horsepower in and of itself, rather it maintains power by keep IATs consistent pull after pull. In essence all it does is keep power from fading due to increased temps.

You’re welcome! If you plan to really push the truck in high temps during desert runs, you may want both. The difference is that the intercooler will benefit you all the time while the transmission cooler would only be beneficial when you push the truck off-road.

V8 goat my post said I was a Whipple man, the Shelby GT-350 has a Gen 5, 3.0 Whipple supercharger on it. I never said there was an Whipple intercooler on the Shelby.
I think Whipple makes good products. My question was if a Whipple intercooler was installed on the Raptor would there be a need for a new tuner or could the Ford Module tune it. Or would a new tune be needed at all. I'm open for the opinions.

I'm also thrilled to read the results from those who have this tune on their Ranger Raptor.

People barely got it in the mail and it takes time to have a dealership/ASE tech to install it. It will come.

I understand and you are correct. Unfortunately as I grow older I always thought I'd have more patience. I was wrong.
It is exciting to read that (and I hope to read a lot more) for the money spent us Ranger Raptor owners are getting a good bang for the buck.

Haha, I've noticed that I've lost patience as I got older also. Not on this subject but for other things. Yes, this tune has a lot of people salivating about the results.

Nice! I think with cooler weather with the tune these are definitely capable of a 4.9 0-60. I seen a 5.5 stock 0-60

Long thread and a bit confusing at times. To have this done do I just make an appointment with my dealer? Do I just ask for the “Ford Performance Tune?” Or is there something that I need to purchase ahead of time?
So do I need to order a Tuner first or can I just do everything through the dealer?

So called Ford Proformance and asked them to the warranty. What they said to me was interesting so I thought I would share. Ford states the tune comes with a 3year 36K-mile warranty. the 3-year 36K mile warranty doesn't start once you install the tune, it's when you purchased the car. So, if you bought the truck 2 years ago or have 26K miles on it the warranty will only cover you for 1 year or 10K miles. after that you're on your own. Please let me know if anyone has heard or know anything different but this was from Ford Proformance. Below is the phone number for anyone that wants to verify my comments.

enjoy.

Recieved mine today, and installed right away. For reference I own an ASE independent shop, and I am a former Ford dealer tech, so I do mine myself, but, ANYBODY could do this...there's literally no way to screw it up. Unlike Bronco, it worked properly right out of the box. Also I DID notice that when saving the stock cal it also saved the steering rack cal...this leads me to believe we will be getting the FP steering rack soon, and can use procal to program it (although on Bronco that has been hit and miss...w/emphasis on miss!).

1st thing you are gonna want to do, if you have never had one of these, is start an account on performanceparts.ford.com and assign your voucher code to that account. Then if you are having a 3rd party install for you, give them those credentials (email, password, voucher code). After that it's very simple. Connect the blank procal to the desktop w/procal software installed. Allow it to check and update firmware (while still blank). Once done attach the procal to vehicle OBD port and allow it to save stock cal (does it automatically from the "programming" tab). It will marry itself to the vehicle's VIN at this point. Then, return the procal to the desktop where the desktop tool will upload the stock cal, and prompt you for your login credentials for Ford Performance. If everything is correct it will burn your credit for the tune, and download the tune to the procal. Device is now married and loaded w/the tune software. Then back to the OBD port and (best to have a jump box on the battery just in case), flash the performance cal...takes about 10 minutes.

I went in to get my Raptor scheduled for the window software recall today, and then asked them again about installing the Procal tune.

I damn near got into an argument with the Service Advisor because he was insisting it's a 2+ hr job and I called b.s and pointed him to your post to help prove a point.

He refused, then proceeded to pull up the whole Procal 3 install guide and I called b.s again. I told him that even Ford performance said it should take no more than an hour with an hour and a half being the most time needed if they've never installed one before, and by the way that it's the Procal 4 used now.

He then proceeded to try and prove me wrong by arguing that it takes over 30 min to upload my factory tune, then another 30 to install the performance tune onto the factory map then another 30 min to install it on the truck, since that's how long it took to do his 2019 Ranger. I then asked, "when was the last time you installed a Procal tune here?" The reply was, "we installed it on my Ranger here back in 2019 and we've done 2 or 3 since then but haven't done any in the last few years, and we've never done it on a new vehicle."

I fought him the whole way until he finally said we'll time how long it takes when you bring it in. I said 'good, because I'll be here the whole time watching and I'll be the one logging into my Ford performance account for the tech and keeping an eye out to see if you purposely sandbag to pad the time trying to prove me wrong.

I'm trying to stay on good terms with them, but this whole ordeal about the Tune makes me want to install it myself and be done with it.

That really sucks.
I ended up making an appointment with Apple Valley Ford in MN. I guess all of the Ford shops around the Minneapolis area point to them as the "Ford Performance Shop".
I talked to "Max" in aftermarket accessories. He quote me $200 install if I didn't purchase it from them, but also told me straight up that it would take at most 45 mins.

In today's world, I'll gladly pay for honesty. Plus, I saved enough buying it from Lethal that it's like I'm getting installation for free.

I won't pay a dime over $200 for the install. Luckily I have a dozen Ford dealers around me so it isn't difficult to find someone to meet your price.

Assuming it ever gets approved in California of course. :crying:
