No you can still get every trim. Some of the Tacoma trims are only hybrid

No, the top 2 Tacoma trims are only available with the 2.4L I-MAX. TRD PRO and Trailhunter. This has been known for a long time. Keep grasping at straws that aren't there.
Ahhhhh so now it’s these imaginary made up rules you put in place to what is and is not a full launch?

there’s a reason there’s only a few thousands rangers in the order banks. Ppl want the 2.7.

No tremor until next year. Fake launch! /s

again, I have zero idea what your pointing anything out about the hybrid has to do with em claiming the first tacos will hit lots before the first rangers if the strike continues?

Generally all announced trims being available is considered a full launch, as options are optional (Go figure).

You diverted the point originally, but that is fine. This thread will be here when the strike ends and rangers hit the lots fully. (Just a few have already.) You were the one telling people to stick to facts, and then claiming Tacoma would come out first because you are apparently omniscient(/s).

I don't know how you missed that, but I spelled it out to clear up any confusion.

If you want a Tacoma, buy a Tacoma. If you want a Ranger, buy a Ranger. You don’t need strangers to make the buying decision for you nor prognosticate on the exact date/time each truck will be available to you.

More torque but quite a bit less horsepower. It should kill the competition on fuel economy though. I'd consider it the practical choice and I don't think you can go wrong no matter what you get on the next-gen trucks. I just feel like the Ranger Raptor is going to be an overall more fun experience though. It's going to sound better, have better suspension, and be a bit quicker.

Once those UAW emails leaked that proved they were arguing in bad faith, I think the auto makers decided to take their time with the strike. The longer it goes, the more the leverage goes back to the auto makers because the workers won't be able to afford the time off. They are also getting laid off left and right because Ford won't keep them around with the other plants on strike.

As for your theory about wanting to be on strike, I don't know if it holds water because the F150 plant has been running this whole time with no strike there yet.
Yet.

I myself was waiting for the 2.7L but changed my mind back to the 2.3.
1) Don't like the idea of the oil pump driven by a rubber belt.
2) the valve issue still has me concerned that Ford hasn't really figured out the problem. Ford is known to just leave problems from year to year without fixing. Namely the shudder vibration in driveline in Ranger models from 2019 - 2023.

Anyone thinking about pivoting? I would be lying if I said I wasn't. It's certainly not a Raptor, but with the savings you get, you can truly make it your own. I think with the uncertainty of the strike is really compounding to my decision. First of all, I don't think UAW is actually bargaining in good faith, and I don't think the OEMs actually are in much of a hurry to settle. They all just secured financing, and they have inventory on dealer lots that are just sitting. I think a strike in production is exactly what they wanted without signaling to the shareholders that they need to stop production because of unsellable inventory.

Secondly, I am kind of hesitant about buying a Ford product, knowing that there will probably be another strike in 4 years. Right when my Raptor will need parts for warranty work, etc. What do you guys think?
I plan to take a good long hard look at both once they hit dealer lots. My priority is size/comfort so I really can’t evaluate either until they hit the ground. I can see advantages & disadvantages to both the Ranger / Tacoma themselves, but also Ford / Toyota as manufacturers & dealers. Honestly I think supply disruptions are a moot point, whether caused by the strike or not, when it comes time to actually pull the trigger say a year from now. Unless you really need to commit by year end.

My two bits on the Tacoma. There isn't even a build and price, so I can't see them being available before the Ford.

Also, If anyone cares, I sat in a new Colorado the other day. Kinda hated how cheap it felt, and I hate piano black trim that scratches immediately. I'm glad I went for the RR, without even sitting in one yet, and I'd never trade it for the taco or 'rado. I only hope aftermarket companies can get the RR soon so that we can get tunes, bumpers, and every other goody for them asap.

I've driven Tacomas since 2006. I'm patiently waiting on the Ranger Raptor, it's my dream truck right now. The strike is unfortunate and I think the UAW is being unreasonable.

Not sure how you arrived at that being the major reason? Some do, but not all of us. I am flat out not interested in another CrewCab with short bed only truck. Already have a Maverick and it was always intended to be a stop gap measure until an SCab with 6' bed configuration arrives in NA. I'm sure a lot of other people are holding off ordering because of the single configuration as well.

5. “It’s almost a full size”. I’m not even kidding this is flat out hilarious. the old gen is the smallest midsize by far.
I knew someone would get a kick of out that one :)
My point was that the '23 TRD offroad felt huge compared to a '23 ranger tremor. If it's actually physically smaller than a '23 Ranger or an '02 or '08 Dakota or any of the mid size trucks I have driven (Canyon, etc), it sure didn't feel like it to me.

3. seating position. You haven’t sit in the new one…
I have heard they're fixing that. I know most of us are talking about the merits of switching their preorder to another preorder - but of the models I could just go out and find on a dealer lot near me instead of waiting for my '24 order the Tacoma was uncomfortable no matter how I adjusted.

Truth is we're all sitting in front of a screen comparing memories of vehicles we've driven to trucks we've never sat in (24 RR vs 24 TRD Pro or some other trim of the same).

What most people in this thread need is more patience. I also wish I had a build date or anything better than a guess as to when I'll get the keys, but I'm happy with what I ordered. Unless they try to roll me into a '25 order, I'll stick with my decision.

No chance. Also, thinking these will be easier to get is a stretch.
Not a stretch. My Ford dealer got 1 allocation for the Raptor, like every other dealer. They have 20 people on the wait list, and they are doing crazy ADM.

My Toyota dealer has never ever done any ADM including on TRD Pros. They also expect very few allocations for the Pros but you can get a trailhunter or a TRD offroad and customize it. Aftermarket will be crazy.
Customizing the base ranger sucks. Only the Raptor is appealing really.

Nope. The seating position in the Tacoma and Forerunner's for me is a permanent deal breaker. I love the two vehicles (from the outside).
A dozen of journalists sat in the new Tacoma and confirmed they fully fixed that.

I was set on a RR then realized it will be impossible to get at MSRP, while I can get a Tacoma at MSRP and have a hybrid engine with great MPG (the new Land Cruiser with the exact same engine has been announced at 27mpg per Toyota press release. When one knows that a Tacoma with the same engine as the 4Runner gets better MPG than the 4Runner, one can expect the mpg to be at least the same as the Land Cruiser at 27).

So to answer OP: yes, strongly considering a Tacoma.
Also considering a fully loaded ZR2 for 50K. By far the best option in term of offroad performance for the price.

Getting mine at MSRP, also my dealer got two allocations and both are scheduled to be built
