So if I am driving on a snow covered road in 4wd high should I have the locker on or off? I am saying speeds in the 50 mph range.
If you're going 50mph, you don't have a problem in which limited traction prevents forward movement. If you don't need the locker engaged, there's no reason to use it.

Because of the normally open differential, if one side’s wheel has far less traction than the other (think one wheel on pavement, the other in the air), then most of the power will go to spinning the wheel with less traction. The locker forces the wheels to turn at the same rate, moving power back to the wheel with grip. Great if you’re spinning one tire at low speed, but in any other condition the locker makes things worse because normal driving requires the tires to turn at slightly different speeds. So use it when you’re almost stuck, avoid it the rest of the time.

I'll add that once you use the locker and try to turn, you'll want to turn it off anyway. I have it on my 2WD and only use it when I don't want any wheel spin. I'd try it if I were stuck, but thankfully haven't needed to yet. Even at very slow speeds, you can feel it fighting turns.

Okay but good luck doing 50 MPH in deep snow or sand. LOL
I5 in washington state gets lots of cars and trucks in the medians and off into the woods BECAUSE they are all going over 50 on snow covered roads.

You need to keep reading. When used in certain drive modes there is no speed limit. Like I said very different from the Maverick. The Maverick is a AWD vehicle. Its FWD with a PTU to send power to the rear. The Ranger is a true 4wd with a transfer case and solid geared rear axle.

Just to make it simplier english, Maverick Tremor does not have a locker per say. It has a 4 wheel drive locker which it just forces the truck to keep power going to all 4 wheels instead of deciding when to actually give power to the rear. It is a very fun truck though. Its impressive the performance that truck will give you in the trails.

Not a 4 wheel locker at all. It's a clutch pack in . Dual in the case of the Tremor. The Ranger has a geared differential with a 3rd member. When the locker is engaged differential is actually locked. No slip at all. The Maverick can slip. Real 4WD vs AWD. And yes the Maverick is fun. The Raptor is AWESOME. I had a Maverick and now Have a Raptor.
