You need to keep reading. When used in certain drive modes there is no speed limit. Like I said very different from the Maverick. The Maverick is a AWD vehicle. Its FWD with a PTU to send power to the rear. The Ranger is a true 4wd with a transfer case and solid geared rear axle.
I felt the same way. When it first accelerated unexpectedly it freaked me out. Was happy when I found out how to fix it . But can't understand why Ford would set it to work that way.
