If you can find them Gorditas. Even living on the border they are hard to find and good ones are even harder to find

I think Ford not giving raises back to workers after they agreed to cut them to help survive the pandemic is outrageous. I don’t understand why the workers are getting blamed for this. What if your boss told you three years ago they had to cut back and then your company posted record sales and said they still weren’t giving out raises? I’d be pissed, too. Hell it’s happening in my company right now. Record profits, record inflation, but paltry merit increases. I don’t blame them in the slightest

Negotiation 101. You don’t come to the table with the minimum you’re willing to accept. You start high and meet in the middle.
It has been happening for years.
More for the company and less for the workers.
What did the companies expect that working people would just keep taking it.

We use a tomato based sauce instead of a mustard sauce like Carolina style. We also dry rub our ribs. Next time you’re down this way, first plate’s on me.

sorry about the following novel length reply, but some of these replies really demand the counterpoint arguments for balance. This is my 1 and only on this topic!

it's truly baffling and saddening at the same time that our society has large segments that have absolutely no concept whatsoever on the actual VALUE of work these days. The value of the work and equivalent pay has always been determined by the Employer; what is the amount worth to hire someone instead of doing it themselves? THAT is the bottom line here and we've allowed certain groups to perpetuate false linkages and equivalencies that people assume is normal and righteous somehow and requires constantly "fighting for".

"Living wage"? Ridiculous! There is no linkage whatsoever between what it costs person A to survive and what any random job pays! If you can't make enough $ with 1 job- get another 1 or 2 or 3 until you reach the amount needed to survive! That's what generations of immigrants always did, and it made them appreciate America all the more as they were free to choose how to raise a family and be productive Americans while passing on good values by example. REAL world example- look at most family run restaurants of immigrants who work with minimal or NO salary to themselves to keep the business solvent. FORCING them to pay others off the street more than they themselves take is next to criminal IMO.

Big CEO/director salaries have no relevance to what a production line job is worth to the companies. They are on a whole different level of employment not everyone qualifies for. When I worked in production early in my career, we used to shake our heads at corporate compensation, but we always knew we could choose to work elsewhere if we didn't like it instead of complaining about any disparity. Get over it and make a better life for yourself.

Corporate Profits? GOOD for our economy! Poor people don't hire anybody! Why do Unions and Governments think they get to decide what a "fair share" is for the company and employees? Same goes for paying taxes. My 1st paying job was minimum wage in 1974- $1.75 an hour. It took me 2 college degrees (no loans) and 30+ years of working and climbing to get to $36.00 an hour as an engineer in high tech. I didn't bitch and complain about the company profit (or lack thereof) or board salaries or look to union collective bargaining to help me. Just worked and looked to better myself and move up the ladder any way I could and saved for retirement and paid into SS and my taxes.

People thinking they DERSERVE some unrealistic wages and working conditions are in for a rude awakening as more and more jobs are becoming obsoleted by automation, and now AI- if it doesn't kill the human race off as expendable along the way

But people who do their job correctly deserve a wage they can survive on.
Yes the Value of work is important.
But how you pay your employee is telling of how you value that employee.
I agree there are employees who do not deserve more and there are those that do.
Times have changed.
Yea in 1972 you could earn $80.00 to $100.00 a week and live in it.
Everything cost less. Times have changed.
I to as you did not complain and worked and saved. But as stated life today does not compare to the way it once was.
As everything cost more then the cost of living goes up and working people need to earn more.
The fact is that our children have less than we had at their age.
I was a salaries employee in retail most of my 40yr career.
Yes how much a CEO earns does effect that is left to pay those who make the profits for a company. I know first hand.

Thank you and now I will get off my soap box.

Some people have some STRONG feelings about this! I’m glad I’m not at this dinner table.
