This is what I was told by FPP when I was researching their ProCal. However, just got my Ranger back last Friday and though the ProCal shows both Performance and Stock tunes available when I select either it reads “invalid strategy “. This concerned me as I wanted to ensure if I’m ever towing and I can’t get 91 octane I could then return the truck to stock tune using the ProCal. Well, I call dealer and they tell me “No. the tunes are saved in the technician PC and have to be “changed”/loaded from the PC each time. WTH????
This shouldn’t have happened. They should have asked you if you had an FP account or allowed you to open on right there and then. I take it you didn’t have an FO account already established?

When the technician opened the account he used the voucher ID, downloaded the FP tune to his account, then upload loaded it to the Pro Cal tool. The OEM tune is in his account but it wasn’t downloaded to the Pro Cal tool, like it should have been.

The best thing to do would have been; you open FP account, enter the voucher software number, which pairs it to your account. Download the software to your account but not upload it to the Pro Cal. This way the technician couldn't uploaded/download the FP tune, without asking for access to your account first. It will store (upload) the OEM tune to the Pro Cal. This is why you‘re unable to access and switch tunes.

What I’d do is; ask them to give you the account and password the technician opened. It’s actually your account, not theirs. This same account, will also have your OEM tune stored. This way you can transfer the account, (user name and password). You can then download the OEM tune to the Pro cal and switch tunes at your discretion.

I think you’ll have to get Ford Performance to do the actual transfer of the account but it will solve the issue. 🇺🇸

My dealer loaded my stock tune onto my procal after they did my tune. They said that is how its supposed to be done since you have the tuner with you
This is exactly how FPP detailed it to me, so imagine my surprise when I couldn’t access the stock tube via the procal 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’ve called and will take it back then once PFF service is available to hold their hand and educate (FPP is closed in observance of the holiday). Said to go in today but I wouldn’t trust them to know where to plug into the OBD at this point.

Ranger/Hobb, I did have a FP account but was told by the dealer if the procal was not in a sealed unopened box then the Ford Service technician wouldnt install. So I followed their instructions; if only they did the same for transferring and uploading the procal🤣

Hey all, the local dealership Laramie Range Ford here wants to charge 325 dollars to have it installed. I feel that's high given some of you on here have stated much lower costs to have it done. Any recommendations of places to bring it to on the front range of Colorado? Thank you!
P.s. already own the Procal bought on black Friday special from Lethal. I have 13k miles on my truck.

That is what the cost was here, but I used my points toward it so it was around $195 out of pocket. Both Ford service centers wanted 1.4-1.75 service hours. I opted for the service center located where I bought the truck from who quoted the 1.4hr. Wish I hadn’t 😆

The tune is negligible unless you floor it and boost over 14 psi. Higher shift points seem to negate any mpg benefits it’s supposed to give.

Going from a 14 second 1/4 to 13.7 isn’t going to knock your socks off but I’m not passing up paper horsepower regardless.
the truck can do the 1/4 mile in 12.95. 0-60MPH in 4.5 second with Ford Pro cal. me and a few other members did a bunch of dragy verified runs. @Lion77 100 percent worth it.

I just got the pro cal tune about a month ago and definitely notice a difference on pulls and the transmission. I just want to keep on adding stuff to my truck. What would be the best CAI on the market for the pro cal tune? Inter cooler? I already have the turbo smart BOV for fun but I just want pure performance. Is it better to just leave it stock until my warranty runs out and I get a custom tune? Learned a lot on here about intakes from Ranger/HOBB and how the aluminum fabulous fabrication might not be good for IAT. If anybody could help it would be appreciated, or I can just wait until more parts come out.

Mind posting the draggy times (not saying I'm doubting it, but for others looking into the Pro Cal it might be nice to see the additional data).

I finally bit the bullet and ordered mine from Steeda, so it should he here this week. I'll get it all set up with FP and find a local shop or maybe the dealer to do the flash.

Ill probably just do all the backup etc. myself first to cut down on time and make sure they don't F it up lol.

Thanks for all the feedback. Keep it coming, the more the better. Btw finally got to have a little fun off roading on the in-laws property, actually sat in the bed with my 5 year old and the wife drive it around up and down some hills, my son loved it.

I drove 1000 miles before having my first oil change by Ford. Was getting about 20 mpg at 6000 ft elevation running 87 octane. After the FP tune at 1500 miles running 91 octane having been getting mid to upper 19 mpg. Have 3700+ miles on the odometer and am very happy with performance and mpg.

One thing to keep in mind, my heavy throttle applications probably amount to 10-15% of the time and never equal wide open throttle.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback from everyone. Really it all boils down to making an informed decision by having a good idea of the pros and cons. I figured since everyone took the time to provide their experiences, the thread would serve as a good go to for anyone mulling over the Pro Cal for the RR so they don't have to "reinvent the wheel" as it were.

Once I get mine installed and some time behind it, I'll post my own feedback to add to the thread, but I only just ordered it this weekend carefully considering all the input and hashing out the 10R60 durability questions over the past month or so that some of us have had.

High 11’s would make my day
That would be pretty awesome for a mid-sized truck...but you're going to need a LOT more power than what a factory 3.0L Nano can deliver  .

@DirtDerrick has ran in the 11s I believe. He has upgraded turbos, down pipes full exhaust, built transmission etc. Check out some of his threads. I think these trucks are capable of 500WHP if not close to that with just aftermarket tune and down pipes:
