Ford Australia don't have the 2.3 in the Ranger, VW Australia Have the 2.3 in the Amarok which is the Ranger with VW facelift, 222KW or 300HP, 452NM torque, 0 to 100k 7.4 sec Faster than 3.0 v6 by a second.

watch some YouTube videos, they have the new 2.3 with duel injection. Like I said the ford website is not accurate all the time.
You are absolutely correct and it makes sense why they are putting it in the Ranger also. This was stated on another site in regards to the Explorer 2.3
"The 2.3 didn't just get port injection it's a completely new engine with the same displacement. All of the 3 and 4 cylinder ecoboosts have quietly been replaced with mpc ecoboosts of the same power and displacement but new architecture"
" Modular power cylinder which I believe is meant as a the injector/piston cylinder design being used across different engines"
If the Ranger got the Explorer engine we got a 25hp bump as it is rated at 300/310. B.ut even if it is the same HP as last year I ll take the dual injection

im not 100% convinced its a 25hp bump. The 24 and older Bronco 2.3 rated at 300 hp is rated on premium. I think the Ranger rated at 270hp on regular is closer to 290 or 295hp on premium. There a lot of numbers out there but when you sift though it you still donā€™t have a super clear answer. All I know is 24 Rangers are currently tunable and if power is what you are after you can get the 2.3 with 322hp 359tq. Only time will tell as more info is released or discovered.

Hear me out, 5g rangers have 2.3s with the 10r80 with a mechanical fan rated at 270hp on regular that came out in 2019. In 2020 the 10r60 came out in explorers and 2021 in Broncos. I believe 20 was the first year of the 10r60. The 5g rangers didnā€™t get the 10r60 Iā€™m guessing because it would cause a redesign of trans mounts, wiring, programming etc.

So 6g rangers come out with 10r60s. 24 rangers are either the only ones with the old 270hp 2.3 thatā€™s only been previously strapped to a 10r80 or the bronco 2.3 thatā€™s been strapped to a 10r60 since 21 and is built in the same building as the Ranger? If it is the 270hp 2.3 that means ford had to revise the 270hp 2.3 for one year only, or just slip in the bronco 2.3 for one year.

Iā€™m thinking it would have been easier to slip in the bronco 2.3 and more cost effective.

I'm really disappointed in Ford for not releasing any information on this upgraded engine (3.2 Direct injection) that Ford is now offering as an option for the 2025 Ranger
I purchased in July a 2024 Ranger XLT FX4 4X4 with the 3.2. Just love everything about the truck but having the upgraded engine would have eased any future carbon build up issues. Wonder if the new DI engine will have cam phaser issues?

From mechanics Iā€™ve talked to and trust, they say itā€™s a non issue as long as you change your oil every 5K. Iā€™m also adding a treatment of Techron every 10k. Also, itā€™s a good practice to run in sport mode every so often to burn off the carbon.

Im just happy they made this change. The new engine is with the new turbo and wastegate is much more responsive around town. Im wondering now if they changed the inside of the oil pan so you can use an oil extractor from the top.

One thing I'm really happy about is the addition of port fuel injection, that's an outstanding decision from Ford and now is less worrying about carbon buildup.

I grew up in Dearborn and know some Ford folks at MAS and they said thats where all the engineering decisions are made on the US RANGER trucks.
Iā€™m not sure this sounds correct. I remember introductory videos where the chief engineer (Juan DiPena?) was interviewed and heā€™s definitely not Australian. Hereā€™s one such video:

I took a 2025 for a test drive a couple of weeks ago, to compare it to mine for another reason. At the time, I was not aware the engine had changed and the sales consultant said nothing. Driving the 2025, It did not seem any smoother or more powerful.

I took this picture of the 2025 engine bay to see if any underhood components had changed (I was interested in the coolant line routing).

The fact that the engine was still tight (not broken in) has alot to do with it. As mine is breaking in it is getting more peppy.

Design Engineers are there. I have it from a very reputable source at MAS. Since that was where the truck was first introduced and built there is no reason to have design engineers here.
