Got a 2025 Ranger Raptor yesterday coming from a Mustang... whoa

Looks like I ain't the only one that came from the Mustang! I had a Procharged 2015 Mustang GT that I daily drove and tracked. Only difference is I bought a used Tacoma TRD Pro and drove it for 3 years in before the RRaptor came out. Probably helped get the speed itch out as that truck was horribly slow.

I drove a Tacoma TRD in Buffalo on a trip this past winter just to see what was up. Thought it was a capable truck but I could not go from a Mustang to that. Grateful Ford brought this thing to the states!

I've never driven a vehicle that *prefers* you hit the speed bump going 35. It's wild.

I used to drive a tuned Audi S5 and would pucker at every imperfection in the road. Now I just casually fly across speedbumps and potholes like they're nothing. It's liberating.

Not to make this a thread about Tacomas but the 3rd gen had nothing good going for it other than reliability and resale value (why I had one).

Tech is non existent for a 50k+ truck (when new). They were so cheap that keyless entry sensors only on the driver door and not on the passenger. The tailgate doesn't lock when you lock your truck. You need a manual key. There's no vertical seat adjustments in any seat. The transmission gear hunts nonstop especially when going up hill or towing. I don't know a single Tacoma owner that hasn't tuned their truck. The truck was slow and gutless but sounded loud while having the mpgs of a v8. Remote start turns off when you open the driver door. The toyota app only gives access with a paid subscription. I'm sure there's still more I missed off the top of my head.

This Raptor fixed every gripe I had with the Tacoma. Variable exhaust and adaptive suspension is a game changer for a daily driver truck that I also take on trips on and off road. Nothing came close to this truck in the $50k range. Scared to tune it tho. Will probably wait til the 5yr60k power train warranty ends.

I'm coming from back to back S550 Mustangs, first a '15 Ecoboost then a '19 GT. It was unfortunately time to grow up a little--the Mustang was no longer viable or practical for where I was at in life.

After casually window shopping for 6 months, I got a notification that the blue book on my Mustang shot up $6k (thanks, I guess, US government??) and I knew this was the time to make a move. I ended up with this Marsh Gray 25 that was on the lot for 2 hours before I'd called about a test drive. Turns out it was a special order from a guy that worked at the dealership and had a habit of ordering a high-demand car, driving it for 2 weeks, selling it at a gain, and doing this all over again in perpetuity. Once the RRs started sitting around MSRP again, he evidently declined delivery on this one. Ended up snagging at 1k under MSRP in Orlando, FL.

Marsh Gray wasn't my first pick, but after seeing it in person I loved it. I could do without the graphics package, they might go eventually.

I'd read "oh it's loud, it handles like an offroad truck, it's not nimble," yada yada. Brother, I'm coming from a GT with 20" wheels on it. Other than the fact that provided the fun of being a 6 speed manual, so far this is an upgrade across the board. I am pleasantly surprised with how quick and comfortable it is. First moves will be tint, a decision between a Bedrug or Line-X, and then that retractable Amazon tonneau cover I see folks yapping about on here. Looks great for the price! Will drive for a few months then probably be itching for the ProCal tune...

Love the color, graphics package, could do without. You'll love the way it handles & drives. Got my Desert Sand RR yesterday, turning some heads in my small Mountain town
