The Ford OEM J-Braces are very stout, made of heavy metal, welded strong so there is no danger of theme bending or the welds breaking.
The Ford J-Braces are far stronger than the EGRs. I'd say the J-braces are probably also far stronger than the updated bed. I've held and installed them. They're basically nuclear proof.

Just to close the loop for me, I had another member DM me with a set of j-braces he had for sale, so I was able to finally secure a set and just installed them today. Overall it went well, I've never worked much on vehicles before so I was much slower than most every other install I've heard discussed (about 3 hrs/side), but it all got completed as required. Looking forward to now getting the RTT and not being concerned about cracking the bed.
Good for you for doing it yourself! It took me a while too, but certainly glad to check it off the list!

i’m considering the egr braces, but the fact that ford sprayed bed liner all over my hooks and bolts up front, i’m hesitant to cut all that crap loose and compromise the liner (because you know the ford liner probably didn’t have proper prep)

I removed a couple of those hooks/bolts to install a Ford pivot tool box in my truck bed with Ford factory spray bed liner. The bolts are certainly a pain, but I just took my time and they came out fine. I used a dremel cutting tool to cut the spray liner just between the hook and bolt, then cleaned off all the liner from outside and inside the torx bolt head with a dremel cleaning tool and razor knife. Then I just used a short socket wrench and backed them out by hand very carefully. No issues.

That being said, my suggestion (and what I did) is order the Ford OEM J-Braces from Australia, while they are still available. My thinking is with the 2025's not needing J-Braces, they are going to be hard to find sooner than later...

so got an email that the ford ones were in stock- hit the order button. two days later- on my door step. yup, definitely not in the same league as the egr ones. these are more like frame extensions.
install was actually not bad. hardest part was getting the damn fender liner out of my way.
drilling the rivits was easy. (sharp bits)
my rivet gun wasn’t big enough for the new ones so said screw it and popped the extra screvits in there.
i’ll do driver side this weekend.
overall- was bad at all.

I don't understand why this part isn't included from the get go.
Exactly! Could someone please clarify why this situation is not classified as a recall from Ford? I'm curious, especially since my understanding is that new trucks from the factory have a Ford engineered solution to this issue.

Here is a sample letter you can customize and send to the NHTSA https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#vehicle/vehicle-information

Subject: Complaint Regarding 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor VIN XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Dear NHTSA Team,

I am writing to formally report an issue with my 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor, VIN XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. After purchasing this vehicle, I encountered a significant problem with the truck bed that requires the addition of a J-brace to fix the issue. I believe this poses safety concerns for both myself and other owners of the same model. Recently, I learned that Ford has developed a solution for this issue, as detailed in the following press release: WSAV Press Release. However, Ford is unwilling to cover the necessary repairs under warranty, despite the fact that this solution became available shortly after my purchase.

I believe that this situation requires your attention, as it not only impacts my vehicle but may affect other owners of the same model. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter to ensure that safety standards are upheld and that consumers are treated fairly.

Thank you for your attention to this important issue. I look forward to your response.

Its not a recall because its not a safety issue. A recall is for safety stuff. A technical bulletin would be something not a safety issue but a problem.

Since the j brace warning says possible during heavy off roading, its not a safety issue and not a problem unless you have weight while off roading as i recall reading somewhere
