That's what I was thinking too. I can't imagine the ECU would let the engine lean out too much with downpipes.

I've seen enough O2 sensors malfunction to say good luck with that. Not to mention detonation...but sure, you can even run 87 octane with the FP Tune and the truck will pull a bunch of timing and boost to try and save itself.

I'm not for certain the FP Tune works like this but most ECU's do...near or at WOT they go into open loop and the O2 sensor is not used. Instead, it relies on pre-programmed values. Those values run out of real estate and bad things happen.

Dude, you need to seriously check your shit before replying. YES YOU NEED A NEW ECU.

Moreover, your answers are mostly bullshit on every single post I have ever seen from you. I don't understand why you are trying to be argumentative on a forum that is here for people to collaborate on. It seems counterproductive. No wonder everybody is blocking you, as I am setting you to ignore as well.
Please provide one shred of evidence that ZFG requires you to replace your ECU in order to modify the engine calibration…
I’ll wait…

It clearly says 91 octane or better. I don't get where your going with this reply

Your point was the ECU would compensate with the O2 which probably isn't even the case at WOT. The ECU will also adjust for octane, doesn't mean it's a good idea and the downpipe may put the tune outside its intended parameters.

Not sure you should be ragging on and blocking AlpineBike, I can tell you're not long-lost siblings but you just might be 3rd cousins lol

Even for their “race tune” they give an option of an “upgraded ECU” but it is not required.
They only thing they haven’t cracked on the OEM ECU is the active exhaust functionality.

It still sounds like you don’t know why you even want to change out parts on your truck. Grouping parts like intercoolers with downpipes just shows the world that you upgrade cars based on “stages” listed in “need for speed” video games. You have no understanding of how to identify what in the OE setup is actually limiting power output or what the purpose of each “upgrade part” actually is!

Yeah most people want to keep stock vehicle functionality along with the added power of a custom tune. I have had long discussions with Adam Zfgr about this. This isn't my first time modifying any. I have had a 800whp, supercharged 2018 Mustang that I installed everything myself.

My sincere apologies, my mistake...it was the OP, Antman.

On a side note, I'm not the only one who has recommended against the FP Tune with downpipes. Even the guy who is selling them recommended a custom tune.

I think I may just hold on them. I don't really want to pay $2500 for the whole thing with a new ECU. Not to mention the voiding of the warranty. I will wait until my warranty is up, and hopefully the unlocking will be figured out by then.

Apologies to you as well if my replies were received negatively. I don't want anyone to destroy their engine. I'm hoping someone takes the plunge but does so conservatively with comprehensive logging across environmental conditions. What might be safe at 80f at sea level, may not be safe at 4000 ft and -10 below.

As analogy, if i was taking a stroll through Compton, I would be very diligent of my surroundings (data log) and not rely on the LA Police (ECU) to save me.

Not received negatively at all, it's all good.
