Why do these sound like they have a V-8 instead of a V-6 or is it just my ears?👍🇺🇸

Yep, sounds like a V-8. How cool is that?

Yes for a mere $295K you can have the Bronco DR with the Coyote V8. It sounds pretty mean. I watched a good bit of this last night. The start is pretty good as the Bronco is pretty aggressive and just sounds great. Not going to lie, I do think the RR is pretty good too for a non-V8. The Bronco broke a header, I think is what I heard the crew guy say, not too long into the race and this morning the RR stopped for a bit while the driver and navigator changed a tie rod that was pretty bent up. That must be fun in the middle of a race, in the sand, in full race suit.

At some point, I think they lost the Bronco's video that was forward-facing so for the better part of the morning, especially while the RR was replacing the tie rod, all the feed showed was looking back into the Bronco's cabin and watching their heads bob up and down and side to side over the terrain. Still sounded good but not particularly fun to watch after a few minutes.

Does anyone know about the rules for the BAJA 1000 where stock classes are concerned? The RR cut off about 100 or so miles near the finish by using the "Sportsman Cut" shown in the picture as the blue line. Are the stock classed vehicles allowed to do this? They were the only one in their class so it doesn't matter for race position in their class obviously.
The Bronco, which was in front of them by a long way with it's massive modifications, did the whole loop above where the RR cut across. Ranger Raptor was number 773, Bronco DR was 8050.

photo shows where the course came up from the bottom, where the red line is and then made a right to do that "loop" up above. The RR makes a left across that blue line; that was the "cut.": The vehicles #1957 and #133 are coming "down" the map from completing that loop part and then will make a right turn for them, left on the picture, to exit this section to the left of the screen toward the finish line. Ranger Raptor, 773, was behind the #852 coming up to this point. the 852 makes the right to do the loop, Raptor made a left and went straight across the blue line and continued towards left of screen, cutting off that upper loop completely.

Most offroad races that have stock classes have modified courses for those classes. Usually it's the tire sizes or suspensions that make it hard or impossible to navigate those sections.

Well, that actually makes a lot of sense. I think some of the quad classes used it as well.

I saw a post online earlier that they actually drove the Ranger Raptor back to the US after the race on the street. Pretty awesome.
Not sure about this last race, but they did drive it down, race and finish and drive it home after the first year. Gotta take the "first place" thing with a grain of salt since they were the only vehicle in the class. Still a pretty badass performance for a basically stock vehicle.

True, only vehicle in their class, but only part failure being one bent tie rod and only stuck once, that I'm aware of, over 600+ miles of that sort of terrain is impressive for anything. Especially considering it's street legal for all intents and purposes. As an aside, I believe the Bronco DR was one of, if not the only vehicle in its class as well.

You are talking about the 2nd race which is where the tie rod was replaced. The whole drive there and back was in the 1st race.

Huh? You mean 1st being 2023 and 2nd being 2024? I didn't follow for a minute there.
