I love my new Ranger Raptor, but I'd really like a grab handle on the driver side A-pillar to help pull my ass up into the truck. Does anyone know of a solution? Australia or European source to get their passenger side grab handle? Some U.S. source? Also, do you think this would be an easy mod to do yourself? Thanks

Did you end up finding a solution? Went to my local dealer to check out the Ranger Raptor and would've preferred a grab handle for driver side.

I’ve looked online quite a bit, and I have not found a solution. Really wish Ford would’ve just done this at the factory.

Yeah definitely should've been done from factory. I'm 6'2 and was set off by this, need that extra support getting in/out lol

I’m guessing it’s not as easy as just swapping the Australian A-pillar cover. There’s typically a structural bracket beneath each of those grab handles and I’d bet the North American trucks don’t have them.

US Rangers have an air bag that juts into the A-pillar part way, I believe. Plus US crash test requirements may make it not feasible.
Maybe they will figure it out by 2025, just like the non-existent moonroof shown in the owner's manual.

Not possible. Airbag under the trim and not structure to bolt grab handle into as on the Passenger side.

Remember too that these trucks are made for baja racing. A grab bar might distract a driver and be physically in his way when he's doing ninety miles an hour over a dirt and bumpy trail. Just my thoughts. My wife uses her steering wheel as a grab bar, and when I use her Raptor I do as well now. Once you figure out the best way to pull yourself into with it, it's actually quite functional for that purpose.

Too bad. I had a 2014 Chevy Silverado. It also had the airbag on the "A" pillar but Chevy sold an optional grab handle which I installed. Unfortunate that Ford did not do the same thing.

I thought I saw some of the Ranger Raptor videos, way before we got ours, have the grab bar in them and some without. I know for sure, some of the Ranger Raptors in the videos had back seat, middle console, heater/cooler vents. Crazy that they put some much money into tooling only to take away. Im sure some of it is for fuctional reasons as is, for costs. The grab bar should be an option at least.

If the Overseas and Mexican Ranger raptor can have then we should have had them too. I agree pulling on the steering wheel that does not sound like a good thing not mention wear and tear on it. I would pay the extra to have the grab handles, some things should not be cost cutted. Making it not conventent to get in your truck is bad cost cutting. If Every F150 Raptor, Euro Ranger, Mexican Ranger, South African Ranger and Asian Ranger have them. Why did they delete them for the North American market only, surely one of the riches markets customers can afford the grab handles. That is a picture of the Mexican Market Raptor Ranger notice the grab handles and it also has rear air vents. I think the North American market guys really do not think these things out. For an older person getting in the rear seat in a Raptor it is a real problem. I would just like to know can I just add them with the OEM Ford parts catalog from overseas. The side airbag on the Ranger is not where the grab handles are.

I really dont understand the penny pinching that goes on with not giving grab handles in the US .
I dare say the steelwork behind the plastic is still there as they will have just copied the forms from Thailand and the punchings will be the same.
The cost of the pillar trim with the grab handle will be $5 more than it not being there .
I have been watching pics of the US models and there is a fair few differences , carpet etc compared to the rest of the world and I dont get it ....
The comparable price of a raptor for example is the same as the rest of the world in the US but they have cheaped out on some weird items .
Only exemption i can see is the window glass in the rear cab which doesnt happen anywhere else in the world so this must be damn expensive .

I think the only real answer for this is that Ford’s strategy team made the decision that taking away these features in the US market would encourage buyers to step up and pay more for a full-size f-150.

all of those features are on the f-150, so it keeps us midsize buyers wanting more and never being fully satisfied.

Sadly, the autos are not here to make a great product and happy customers. They are here to make money.

FWIW, my 2006 Ranger Sport (a factory lifted model) has a driver’s grab handle. And vinyl floors and roll up windows…actually a stripper truck.
(And as a person with a serious back problem, I use on each entry.)

Seems to me Ford could have put one on the RR.

To avoid the airbag issue, they could have adopted a handle that’s integrated into the dash like the bronco raptor, love that.

As much as I’m all for having more standard in the truck, I also think we need to remember Ford priced this thing incredibly competitively and offered a pretty amazing package for the money. Were all missing some things we’d really like (vented seats, rear facing air vents, grab handle, hood struts, etc), but what Ford has offered here for 8K under a TRD Pro is pretty impressive…individually it’s never much, but when added up you can see where some costs were cut, so I’m giving them a pass on some stuff like this and I’ll let the aftermarket figure out some cool, affordable options.

This reminds me of the GT350 when it first came out - all the R&D and investment when into what really mattered most…engine, suspension, steering, trans, brakes, etc…in the process some things were neglected, but Ford made an utterly insane car at a very compelling price, and the price made it more accessible and cooler in many ways. 100K plus for a truck with all the options and comforts to me is not as compelling as our 60K RR that’s a bit stripped down relatively, because they put the money and focus into the areas that really counted, and I’m ok with that.
