Had to do something today that I haven't done in 25+ years.
And the first time on the new Ranger Lariat. Change a flat tire.

The 18 years I owned my 2004 Ford Explorer and the 7 years I owned the 2017 Edge, I never had a flat tire.

Finding and setting up the Jack and the 3 piece handle was not a problem. Getting the flat tire off was not a problem

The problem was getting the spare tire down from under the bed.

It was easy getting the plastic cap off from the bumper to expose the opening for lowering mechanism.
Took a minute to figure out the opening was offset to the right from mechanism under the bed. It took me a couple of tries to figure out the "T" end of the crank mechanism was not going to work. So I tried next to use the small square end and that seemed to fit better. But turning the the handle did nothing to lower the tire.

After several failed attempts (trying multiple times over and over same thing but failing (definition of insanity).
In desperation, I disconnected one section of the 3 piece handle and inserted the open (socket ) end. Low and behold it worked.

So for anyone else that needs to change a flat on their Ranger, hopefully you can learn from my mistakes...

The other day I learned that when you are working around the hinges of the hood you can stuff a shop rag into the hole by the hinge so you don’t drop anything into it… except then the shop rag fell in and that’s how I learned to disassemble the wheel well to retrieve a shop rag from the front quarter panel.🍻🤣

Don't feel dumb bro. Informing others of your experience is anything but that.
I will do a dry run on my Ranger now to prepare myself for a possible flat tire event.

I did the exact same thing!!! Bought a flexible grabber to retrieve.

All good man. About a month ago, I tried filling my gas tank using a gas can and found out the hard way that there's a special funnel (that's stored behind the back seat) that you have to use if you want to do that. Spilled like half a gallon of fuel down my bedside 🤦🏼‍♂️. PPF and ceramic for the win. Luckily I was in my driveway and able to gently rinse with the hose for a few minutes.

My funnel is behind my rear seat back. Is there really a second one tucked above the spare? I didn't see that at the school, but seems redundant.

Looks more like a guide for inserting the crank handle to drop the spare.

lol it for sure looked like a funnel to me at first, and based on being right after my last comment, I was like 🙃
Well it is a funnel... just not for fuel :sunglasses:
