They should be thankful they have a job and be proud off seeing what they’ve built out on the road but they’re more worried about working too much and underpaid. Everyone thinks they’re underpaid and work too much, so wtf else is new? Lol what a bunch of snowflakes! What they don’t understand is that asking for higher wages means higher prices for the themselves and consumers to purchase a vehicle.

If UAW strikes, and the office workers handle the line and build our trucks...does taking delivery of your ordered truck equate to crossing the picket line?

I don't care who builds my truck, but some of you might have a moral conundrum to figure out in the next few months.

In some respect, yes. It’s not really the gotcha you think it is though.

It's a yes or no question, there's not a grey area here.

If you give money to Ford (via taking ownership of a truck) during a UAW strike, you're crossing the picket line. No different than laborers picketing at a walmart who built with non-union labor and you going shopping at that walmart for groceries.

If you have firm, rigid beliefs about workers striking and support the UAW (clearly you especially do), you would refuse to pay for a truck built by office workers during a UAW strike. To do otherwise is telling Ford your convenience and comfort is worth more than the UAW demands.

edit: while most of the subsequent replies have since been purged, it has become obvious that some people on this forum who constantly feel the need to tell us how much they support unions aren't willing to refuse delivery of their vehicle, essentially crossing the picket line and paying Ford $50,000 for a truck made by office workers while the UAW isn't getting paid. take that as you will.

Or, we listen to what the union says. The union normally says what they consider crossing the picket line. Just like what is happening with the writers strike.

There is plenty of grey. I understand non binary thinking may be difficult for some but it’s not for a lot of us.

Again, not a gotcha

There's a line people can draw here on "supporting the UAW"; if the worker hourly ranges $83-$112/hour, that's $160,000-$215,040 a year... That is more than most "white collars" I know make a year. I mean the people flipping their burgers are making maybe $13-$15/hour, the bartenders pouring their beers are making far less... who are the true elitists? Why do people think that supporting a union automatically signals that they care about the working man? I think it's far more sympathetic outside the auto industry....

I've mentioned this before on the other thread. That number is false. Most likely its the number that the manufacturer pays that includes employer contributions to healthcare, retirement, benefits, etc. That is not the take home pay. Your pay with your employer works the same. You might make $100k a year but if you add the 80% of your health insurance premiums your employer pays, your cell phone, your company car, your pension contribution, your retirement matching, etc then your compensation is much higher.

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/b...'s top wage is,with United Parcel Service Inc.

Top hourly rate for the UAW is currently about $32 an hour which equates to about $66k a year gross for the most experienced workers. Their ask is for $47/hr which is about $98k a year and even then that's only for the top most experienced workers.

Both sides just need to sit down at the table and discuss it over some tacos.

Well the UAW is preparing a counter offer. We will see if tacos are involved.
Yeah I saw that. Fingers crossed they both can agree in the next week or so.
