I've noticed that when the truck is running my battery reading(on the dash) is about 14.7 volts, normal. When it's not running it's about 11.8
I've always been of the understand that it should be more like 12.4 volts. Some times it is about 12.1 but usually around 11.8. Has anyone else noticed this?
Is it a problem?

I measured the voltage with a meter at the battery terminals just to make sure and they are just about the same. But while doing this I notice what looked like a nut missing on one of the + terminals. Everything is tight so is there a nut missing or is this the way it should be. See photo.

I also check the manual and see an illustration of the + terminal with 2 nuts missing? See second phot. What's going on with these?

Those are for accessories but yes a nut is missing. Yes your battery at rest should be 12.4. I know they had some bad batteries and I think there was a recall but not 100% sure. I know they did for Maverick's.

That sucks,a newer battery should definitely read at least 12.4. 12.6 is more normal. Yes there is a huge battery recall.

Thanks for that info. I hadn't heard about it. I'll check with my dealer.

Can you point me to any information about the battery recall?

I think some trucks came with no nut on that post because mine had 5 miles when bought it and there was no nut on that one too

A bit more on this. I just noticed in the FordPass app I had this message about "Deep Sleep". Called my dealer and have an appointment for the 29th.

I would deal the dealer that is unacceptable. They can put a battery in the oil change lane. Takes 5 minutes. If that is your daily driver I would not be happy.

Thanks for the comment but to be truthful I'm not sure what you mean by it?

I figured it out. My dealer is an hour away so I might as well get the oil change done. It's a long way to go to get oil changed but I got 6 free oil changes and tire rotations when I bought it. So have to use them

I wasn't talking about getting your oil changed. Your battery is going dead that's why you got the preserve battery notification. Just trying to help before you get stranded somewhere with a dead battery. If it was me I would go to dealer pull in the oil change lane and tell them to replace the battery. Good luck

How do you get your dash to show charging voltage?

I had a low battery one day which was odd because it was fine in the morning but st lunchtime I got a bunch of errors and my battery was pretty low. I put it on a noco charger until the next day and it’s been ok for the last week or so, but I haven’t seen the option to add voltage to the monitors on the dash.
