I currently have a 2016 ram 1500 that needs replaced. I have a 20 ft sun tracker pontoon with a 90 HP motor which total weight with trailer is probably a little over 4000 pounds. I live 1 minutes from our boat ramp so towing that distance should be no problem. My question is we are planning on towing it this summer from central Ohio to northern Wisconsin. Would the Ranger be a viable vehicle to tow it 700 miles. Travel 400 miles on day 1 and 300 on day 2.

Thanks

I wouldnt be afraid to try. The weight is low and the frintal area is smaller then a travel trailer

You are fine. Make sure you have electric brakes for a load that heavy. Or surge brakes. I haved towed a lot with the 5g and it is more than capable. Usually towed in the 5 to 7 thousand range. Lots of cars 200 to 300 miles and the ranger does great. Did tow a small backhoe at 7k lbs and no trailer brakes and warped my disc brakes. Tow safe, tow with time. I do not have much experience with tt. I have only towed about 400 miles with tt. Whole different ballgame. But tractors and cars i have towed a lot of. Ranger is more than capable. Just be safe a steady while towing.

Assuming you have the max tow package and not just a hitch ball on the bumper you should be just fine as far as the specs and numbers are concerned. With that said I've towed some boat trailers that have small wheels which got pretty squirrelly at speed. If you trust your trailer at speed for those distances I'd absolutely trust the ranger to get it there and back.

I currently have a 2024 Lariat 2.3. I did have a 2019 Lariat with the 2.3 that I routinely used to pull a 20 ft Chapparal Runabout to Destin Fl and back on weekends with 4 adults (400 miles round trip). Basic tow pkg. 2inch hitch. Trailer with electric brakes. No issues whatsoever. Towed it like a boss.
