Did you end up adding this rubber edge trim to your cover?
Yes I did and it solved about 98% of that issue.
Just clean the existing weather strip and slide the new edge strip over the existing strip and pull the tape on both sides.
It added a little a little over 1/16” in length and snugged up to the top of the tailgate perfectly. I was surprised with how easy and effective it was.

Not to completely shit on the Retrax but EGR also makes one and it's difficult to tell for sure but appears to have a slightly better fitment and slightly smaller footprint for the roll box underneath. If I didn't already have the Retrax I'd be tempted to try EGR's.

EGR also has their version of J braces for the bed box reinforcement and they are cheaper than the Ford version.

Looks like the EGR has a 700lb cargo capacity while the Retrax is 500lbs.

I agree the EGR canister looks smaller than the Retrax but I haven't found detailed drawings for them.

EGR manual warranty is 5 yrs. Powered is 3 yrs.
This warranty only applies to the original purchaser and is non-transferable. Warranty must be claimed with original sales receipt for proof of purchase. EGR warrants that the EGR RollTrac will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of three (3) years for the electric bed cover and five (5) years for the manual from the retail date of purchase. All warrantied pieces will be replaced as needed and full cover replacements will be determined by EGR, Inc. Warranty claims are to be lodged with EGR, Inc. and request should be sent to info@egrusa.com or called in at 800-757-7075.

Retrax is a lifetime with some confusing modifiers.
The RetraxONE XR, RetraxONE MX, PowertraxONE XR, PowertraxONE MX, PowertraxPRO XR, and PowertraxPRO MX have a limited lifetime warranty for the failure of materials and workmanship. Warranty replacement costs will be prorated after one (1) year for the RetraxONE XR and RetraxONE MX, and three (3) years for the PowertraxONE XR, PowertraxONE MX, PowertraxPRO XR and PowertraxPRO MX.
The RetraxPRO MX and RetraxPRO XR feature the Legendary Lifetime Warranty for the failure of materials and workmanship. Warranty replacements will be issued at no cost for the life of the cover to the original owner.

To anyone that installed a Retrax cover themselves, did you have any issues with the two bolts that connect directly to the rear bracket? I do have a spray in liner so getting through to the threads was a bit hard but ultimately I wound up stripping out one bolt head at about 25% insertion and snapped another head completely off at about the same point. It looks like there is pre applied tan thread locker or compound on the bolts that is seizing up. Going to have to get some stronger hardware and probably drill and tap the snapped head bolt.

As someone that sometimes makes technical documentation, it also is frustrating that the first two steps are incompatible with each other. I believe the Ranger is the only truck using the brackets so most likely they reused previous installation documents but step 1 should really be step 2 or3.

I see what you mean and that’s definitely a mixup in steps, but hey… at least there’s no confusion as to what to do with the clips you remove 😂

I'm just starting to look into this when I saw you post this. I'm much more drawn to the EGR Rolltrack's smaller canister, better drainage system, and the t-slots going all the way to the cab. I'd pull the trigger now if I could find any confirmation anywhere that it's compatible with the Yakima Overhaul HD system (which I now already have)

Anyone have any clue if this will work?
I have sent and email to EGR, but no word yet.

Evening fellas.
I just received my Retrax XR Pro and I'm installing it.
I was hoping for a little advice regarding that foam seal that has the adhesive that they send before I commit to the install.
Does it stick well to the spray in liner, or will I need some other adhesive?

Mine stuck to the liner no problem. The biggest issue is that the seal sits on top of the brackets at the ends and Retrax didn't consider that at all. It caused the seal at the front of my cover to stick up a little at the ends. It bothered me enough that I pulled the cover and used a hot knife to relieve the foam seal above the bracket bolts, so it would fit flat all the way across.

I just thought I'd follow up to show how it turned out.
The tonneau cover does leak, but I know that I didn't do a great job of adjusting it. It's cold here in Wisconsin, i'm just going to fix it in the spring.
It works for now. I also picked up a SkyCamp 3 to put on the Overahaul HD bars in the spring.

I was unable to screw those ones in also cause of my spray in liner. I do have m8-1.5 tap that I need to try and get some more screws.

I have a gator retractable cover, which is supposedly very similar the the retrax. I was wondering what is everyone doing to help water seal it? I got the kekoa tailgate seal kit, but it seems like water is getting through on the cover rails.

I did end up snapping off the head of the very first screw I tired to screw in. I didn't have any tools to remove it, so I brought it to my local Ford body shop. They were incredibly kind to remove the one that had broken off and clean out the other holes in the bed for free in about 15 mins.

After that it was easy to get the Retrax on.
