Removed my running boards. Sure wish I didn’t have to pay for them in the first place. Question is… holes in the body. Would I be better off finding plugs for these holes? Did the same thing on my Tacoma and Toyota specifically have plugs to fill the holes. I don’t want to give my Ford and more reason to rust long term. What did you guys do?

I assume you mean holes in the frame. Here's a good start: Hole Plugs

Stay away from any gravel or stones when running no side steps .
tyres throw lots of debris up and the side steps save the body from the front wheels .

I saw the other post about rock chips. Had less than 200 miles on the truck and got a good paint chip on my first dirt road. The next day the running boards went back on.

Read into the thread. Moral of the story is DON"T TAKE THE RUNNING BOARDS OFF unless you are OK with tons of rock chips.

Put them back on and I'm keeping them as rock deflectors.

Not on a Ranger, but my personal experience....removed running boards on my F150, installed Amp Power Steps but also added mild fender flares to help prevent the bigger tires from throwing up rocks.

Please, I am in doubt... are these running boards made by plastic or metal?
