I believe it locks out some upper gears and disables start/stop. Probably changes shift points, too.

Used a half a tank of gas going 3 hours to pick trailer up - dash calculator said 21 mpg. By the time I got home the dash calculater said 15 mpg - so I will let the math professors figure what I actually got pulling the trailer. What kinda MPG did you get? We had a 28’ Imagine I towed with an F250 with the 7.3 Godzilla. That thing pulled like a beast, but the MPG was around 9 at best. Curious how our little 2.3s do.
You got about 11.6 mpg on the return trip. I assumed that each direction was the same mileage.Used a half a tank of gas going 3 hours to pick trailer up - dash calculator said 21 mpg. If it's me, I follow the manufacturer's recommendations. I have a NuCamp Tab400, and the manufacturer recommends AGAINST WDH's for out camper. That's different from simply staying silent or not recommending. We just bought a 21 GulfStream Conquest (2995lbs) Really confusing. The Manufacture does not recommend a WHD, but the dealer does... Picking up tomorrow.
My thoughts exactly! Thank you!If it's me, I follow the manufacturer's recommendations. I have a NuCamp Tab400, and the manufacturer recommends AGAINST WDH's for out camper. That's different from simply staying silent or not recommending.
Their reason is that the frame isn't fulling boxed, but uses C channel steel for the frame. Your camper is slightly lighter than mine but 3 feet longer, so I suspect the light weight is partially achieved with a similar frame. Using a WDH on a C channel frame generally requires drilling the frame, which can weaken it. In my experience, dealers are clued in to what is GENERALLY a good idea but might not apply to a specific model among the several brands they probably sell.
I don't know anything about your specific camper, but I thought I might give you some information that MAY be applicable to you.
