Nope, they did it on mine with no topper. I went to the dealership to have to install it after using my points and they told me I had three recalls and one of them was the Load box reinforcement kit. They installed it and currently going to refund me for purchasing it.
Did they list a recall number on the service ticket and if so, what is it?

I have a feeling you got a freebie from the dealership.

You might have gotten a freebee if you didn't buy a cap.

Sweet! I guess I got a freebie. Which is bullshit at the sametime. Should be a recall even without the cap and now if your truck was built after 9/12/24 you don't even need to buy it for a cap.

Very good, happy for you and all the other folks ordering later, I was lucky enough to get an early ranger raptor, Bluetooth Detroit to buy it from the dealer there, who was not adding surcharges. Still Loving the truck.
going to chime in here just in case it helps me with Ford later. Knowing they watch these posts. No doubt in a troublesome thing as it looks like they definitely put in some strong effort fixing it so it wouldn't be a problem anymore. I'm definitely one who was planning to install a camper cover (Cap) type, with a kayak on top of that. Would have never thought a truck this nice and seemingly tough, is going to have a problem with that. So I'm holding off still waiting to hear something from them. I suppose I need to take the time to write some sort of certified letter, asking the question. Can you make this right?
So my truck was built on 9/12 and I took delivery on 9/16. Yesterday I had dropped my truck off for the break-in Oil Change, Tire rotation, Hood latch adjustment, Tune Installation, and J brace install (grabbed a set recently when they were back in stock). My Dealer, who has been awesome (shout out Griffon Ford in Waukesha) called me and said the bed design is different and the j braces don't fit. There is no more metal tab to cut, its a different design. We confirmed the part numbers were correct on what was sent vs what I ordered ( VN1WZ2627726B ). After the technician and I talked, we confirmed the installation procedures he was referring to which is the same as others have seen from folks here, youtube, etc, and the brackets don't align up as its a completely different design.

I have not seen anyone else confirm the installation of the part for Vehicles after 9/12. They are going to take some pictures and button her back up. Ill post those here. Guess I have an extra set of j-braces to post for sale as well. More to come once I go pick it up.

The Date on the door jam - is that based on month/year? Mine says 09/24, can't tell if it's the 24th of September, or September 2024, lol.

The 23P22 language is almost more insulting than the Achilles Heel load box itself.

Here's the verdict. As I said earlier, my wife's ranger. Raptor was built-in March, and we had J braces put on that just for piece of mind. Mine was built October 5th delivered October 16th, and I relayed all this information I'm getting from you and from everybody else on here and I worked with my dealer's service department, pulling them through the process, because they were trying to take me somewhere else and I was insisting on this forum being correct. And when I sent him the pictures of the side by side view, and then that one guy's picture of the code number, they did more investigation, and this is the email they just sent me a minute ago. They wanted me to thank you because they would have scheduled a service appointment for me, take a look at it and then do a bunch of investigating to come to this conclusion. If he gives me more facts/details about this, ill post them. Now I have to see if I can get reimbursed for my wife's J braces, ha ha LOL. Thanks again SubaruRapter ! And kudos to Tino at Imlay City Ford for doing all the admistrative work.

Good Morning John,

According to Fords website you have the updated version on that truck and you wont be needing those J braces. If you have any more questions let me know.

@Ford Motor Company can you please explain why Ford will not cover this repair for our trucks. It is obvious that it was a defect, reinforced by the fact that Ford fixed it in the same year model later down the road. We bought Ford's very best model trucks and I believe Ford should make this right by fixing their defect.

As much as people want to complain about it being a "Defect" its not. Its just a bad design. At the end of the day its 400 bucks as well, that shouldnt be an issue to anyone here.

I disagree. If it was not a defect they wouldn't have fixed it mid-year. The money is not an issue, I'm not sure why you brought that up.
