Hi All,
Took my 2024 XLT on it's first long drive over the weekend. About 300 miles each way. Mileage was 19MPG calculated on the way there (19.7 shown by the computer) and 19.8MPG on the way back (20.6 shown by the computer). Drove faster on the way there (going up to 90 in certain stretches) than on the way back (mostly 70-80).
Is this consistent with what others are seeing? I've seen about 17-18MPG in the city. I have 1300 miles on the truck now, and it's an XLT with the 2.3L and the FX4 package.

EPA tests highway efficiency at 60 mph. You're driving 80-90 mph, so your RPMs are higher and therefore you're using more fuel.

When I drive 80 mph I get about 19-20 mpg with my 2.7L 2025 Lariat. When I drive 75 mph on freeways I get about 23-24 mpg. City driving I get around 18-19 mpg.

I'm jealous of those who live in the country with long roads without signals because at 45-50 mph you can easily get 28-30 mpg.

That’s low. Going 90 you’ll get lower mpg, but I’ve never seen 19 on a highway trip. For pure highway I can get 23-25 consistently. I’ve been getting 21-22 overall lately with a lot of city driving.

Maybe it’ll improve after a couple thousand miles? I’m hoping so!

I have made two 130 mile roundtrips driving 65 MPH and have yet to crack 21 MPG. 17 or so around town seems to be the norm.

You're driving 80-90 mph, so your RPMs are higher and therefore you're using more fuel.
Higher RPMs do increase friction losses but their effect will be nothing compared to aerodynamic drag, which increases exponentially with speed. That means going just 5 MPH faster at 85 will lower MPG a lot more than 5 MPH faster from 55.

When paying attention to your MPG also make note of the wind conditions: Even if you stick to a more economical 65 MPH but are driving into a 15 MPH wind you’re going to get much worse fuel economy as if you were driving 80 MPH.

I've noticed wind makes a massive difference in my truck. I have seen up to 27mpg on interstate stints where I had neutral/tail winds (and 17ish going the opposite direction). 75mph. 2.7L - Very new (<200 miles on truck!)

On my 10 mile daily commute, which varies mostly from 45-55 with some 35mph, I average 23-24 mpg. On my last highway trip I got around 27, but I drive slower than you- around 70-75. Towing my 4,500lb loaded camper I get around 13.

2024 XLT FX4 2.3L w/Softopper shell, 4K+ miles round trip, avarge 19-20. Had some strong headwinds in some areas and 80 mph highway speed areas in TX.
Now getting 22 around town on the dash. Most I have seen was 22.4 heading south to FL and back.
