Exterior Mirror Extensions for Towing ?

I am the same. I have had half tons then go down to mid size and back to half tons.

I hope this 2024 ranger will be one that stops that since i also still have my 04.

The 04 would have probably needed mirrors pulling our travel trailer but we had the titan.

The small trailer is 19 feet snd the larger ine in the back is 24, and it weighs so much more since its an older model.

Just letting you know. If you can see over the top of your trailer you dont need tow mirrors, if you cant you need them the trick is you have to see the full side of your trailer. Depending on your state its a ticket

In a trailer forum I'm in the mirror product preferred by long timers is this, Grand Aero 3 Towing Mirror. They screw onto the truck mirror housing top edges and after angle adjustment when you reattach them you just screw on and no additional adjusting needed each time. It's really easy that way. Compared to the strap-on types this one has less vibration although it's not as solid as the truck's own mirrors. I use them and am pretty happy with the result. Oh remember to take them off when going through car wash.

Well, you are kind of correct. You need to have vision 200 feet behind the towed vehicle. If you can do that with your standard mirrors, you are legal. That said, I've never actually measured it with or without tow mirrors. I don't think any LEO would check if it looked like you had tow mirrors on. It would probably be more of a liability thing in the event of an accident when merging into another lane.

BTW: eliminating the federal DOT would have zero effect on this as it is enforced by state and local law enforcement and is state law. For example: Iowa Code 321.437 Mirrors.

My small camper is 7 feet wide. I also have a rear view camera on it. That's probably more expensive that mirror extensions, but it is an option.

Yes- I went ahead and installed a rearview camera on the trailer - anxious to see how that works out.
