Have been interested to hear what kind of gas mileage to expect from the 2024 Ranger with the 2.3 engine and just noticed that one fellow just started posting his gas mileage based on actual fillups for his new 2024 Ranger. He has driven 915 miles so far with an average of 21.2 MPG with about 70% highway driving. I would be very satisfied with an average MPG of 21. My dealer cautioned me against expecting gas mileage as good as the EPA Window Sticker rating of 22 mpg combined, 25 mpg highway as he said what they have been hearing from customers with the 2023's is more like 19 mpg and that agrees what folks are reporting on their 2023 Rangers on the www.fuelly.com website, 19 to 20 mpg.

MY '21 Ranger with the 2.3 has had no problem matching its window sticker. It was listed as 23 combined and over 38,000 miles, that's where I am. I've had easy tanks with few stops where I averaged 29, and tanks towing where 17 was great. Overall though, the estimate is pretty good.

Same for my 22.

as a dingus with a job 1 '19 ranger (FX4, no air damm on front) i can attest that my truck gets 26-30 MPG on the highway (~55-65, temperuature depending).

The mileage goes down DRAMATICALLY in the cold. It really is something. It has been <15°F in northwest ohio for the last week or so and I have been averaging ~19. In the early summer I regularly see 25-28 with normal commuting, but I drive like a grandpa and my truck rarely sees boost unless a colorado passes me lol

I have 60k on my 19 ranger and have an average of 20.8. I do tow my travel trailer a few times a year. And I do not always fill up with premium. If I did premium regularly then it would be higher. I expect the new one to be as good or better. Also want to get the performance tune

21 tremor was about 19 mpg combined. Installed ford performance tune and it went to 22 to 23 hwy and far better shift pattern and passing power. Did not like it before the tune. Only down side is 91 octane. But the truck performs and shifts so much better than before the tune and mpg went up despite an increase in hp and torque.

Like with any turbo engine, if you drive it with your foot to the floor, MPGs will drop. Boost=less mpg generally.

If you drive it less spirited, it definitely gets closer to the sticker MPG.

Maybe we'll get lucky and real world fuel economy will improve a bit. The 10R60 is supposed to have less parasitic loss, though the truck looks more brick shaped than last gen. I do a lot of highway driving, mid to high 20s would be great.

Anyone with a tune on the previous gen have real world fuel economy numbers? I'm interested in highway cruising mileage, I know what putting your foot down will do 🤣.

With normal driving and premium fuel, i'd expect to get a few above the EPA estimates.

For example, my focus st is the 2.0L turbo ecoboost EPA rated at 25mpg combined. I have the ford calibration tune which adds power and I drive it like a sports car, but i always feed it premium gas. i'm averaging 26.5mpg. If i drove less like an asshole in a sports car i'd easily be nearing 30mpg.

premium fuel hurts more upfront but generally it is more cost efficient for both mpg increase and engine life, plus you generally get 10-15 more hp.

Ranger raptor MPG is awful (13mpg combined, and I don't do stop-and-go traffic), but when you get a raptor usually you are not looking for mileage. They should have put a larger fuel tank dough, because range is around 300miles only.

Interesting as the write ups and people I've talked to are getting 19 mpg combined.

13 would be worse than a much heavier and chunkier bronco. That makes zero sense.

I use my ranger in highway use mainly. I drive hard sometimes, but not always in summary my average MPG is 13.

If you drive at 60-70 and are cruising without pressing the pedal and in a flat surface it will show 23MPG aprox, but any slight press in the pedal and goes down to 10, 12, 13MPG.

by the way, Installing the bed cover gave me 2.3MPG gain, vs stock.

I have a friend that has a 2.7l bronco and what I see different is that the Bronco has ECO driving mode, while the Ranger Raptor does not. He complains about the low MPG on the bronco too.

Obviously, the ranger feels much faster than the bronco does. I think the aerodynamics on both are not optimal for good MPG, the off road tires do not help either.
