retired with a home hobby, casting hard to find parts for muscle cars and vintage old toys, etc.
2024 Lariat, 2WD. Pretty much all stop and go in Huntington Beach, CA...was only getting 14.5 After a short road trip of 100 miles, average now sits at 16.5 Only have 500 miles on the 2.4, and using ECO mode mostly.
Sort of disappointed but pretty early in the game to know.

Hi All,
Took my 2024 XLT on it's first long drive over the weekend. About 300 miles each way. Mileage was 19MPG calculated on the way there (19.7 shown by the computer) and 19.8MPG on the way back (20.6 shown by the computer). Drove faster on the way there (going up to 90 in certain stretches) than on the way back (mostly 70-80).
Is this consistent with what others are seeing? I've seen about 17-18MPG in the city. I have 1300 miles on the truck now, and it's an XLT with the 2.3L and the FX4 package.

Yep, the best I’ve done is 21 on the freeway. But I am averaging exactly the same as you in my XLTFX4. I have 1600 miles on mine.

I have 1,200 miles on my 24 XLT FX4 with 2.3L and I'm at 19.5 mpg currently. Mostly city driving.

This is interesting. My 24 XL got 19.4 mpg towing my pop up camper 1200 miles to Florida in tow/haul mode.

I’ve observed a significant difference in efficiency due to speed. With my 2.7L FX4 on country roads at 60-65 mph it’s 25+ easily, but on freeways at 75-80 it drops to 21-22. I’d say my driving conditions are almost ideal- almost zero stoplights and virtually zero city driving anymore. Typically I get significantly better mileage than my wife, who drives with a digital foot. She gets 22 mpg with our Explorer ST-Line (2.3L I4 we affectionately call ā€œST wannabeā€) whereas I would sometimes get 30 mpg with the real ST (3.0L V6) we formerly had. I am thoroughly elated to be getting 25 mpg all around in my truck that has a mere 600 mi. on it. It should improve markedly when she loosens up after break-in!
