New harnesses are out. I'm going to install mine tomorrow.
I am also putting in a new center speaker to match all the other speakers I've put in.
Stereo sounds great the way it is, can't wait until it's finished and I can do a final tuning on it.

Yeah I got mine too. Might install today or tomorrow and report back.

Yes. I never use surround mode in any cars as it basically fakes the soundstage. This vehicle has a very forward soundstage in stereo. Rear speakers are IMHO there for show.

MASSIVE UPDATE IN FIRST POST!!

Just got my new harness installed today. For the center channel I had to remap it from channel 3 to channel 9.
There were other things I need to clean up on the harness like using line level output for the sub and remapping it to the correct channel. I used all KS series Kicker speakers in my install.
The Kicker KS 3 1/2" coaxial speaker fits the factory center channel location perfectly. I have a spare if anyone needs it since you can only get them in pairs.
Still need to tune it put despite that it sounds great!
If you like music it's well worth the money and time.

Hoping someone does a small sub box for behind the seat. With as little storage as there is, I'm not sure I am ready to give that space up.

They came out pretty good, but I did have to do some work. I was sent custom rings for them but they weren't exactly flat and I had to file them down a bit for fitment. That being said, they sound fantastic with the matching tweeters.

OP, If you're still around. Where did you get those rings? I'd like to go a similar route & am too lazy to make my own. Thanks

Would just adding the JL sub as a replacement get me more bass, or is it more cost effective to just do the amp?

You'll obviously get a ton more bass by adding the jl sub. However, adding the amp will give you better control of the whole system overall. Especially if you decide to change any of the other speakers down the line.

OP if you're still following this thread; how heavy is the back seat assembly? My sub box, sub and amp just came in and I'm about to embark on the install.
The reason I ask is I only have access from the driver side.

How heavy? Pretty heavy and awkward if you plan on removing it all(top and bottom) as one piece. You can remove the top with 4 bolts and then remove the bottom piece. But those 4 bolts attaching the top are very slow turns.

I dont know how you plan on routing the speaker cable to the sub, whether over the carpet or under the carpet. If over the carpet, then you really dont need to remove the seats to install. And if you want to do under the carpet, you kind of want to get access to the passenger side.
