I don't agree with your assessment of Ford "pumping out more"....I strongly disagree in fact.
The Raptors probably have a larger margin than the other Ranger trims, and it'll be a business decision for Ford. So again, contingent on if this first run sells well.

I admit I could easily be wrong since once the 2024 Tacomas roll out, the Ranger will probably start to fade quickly as midsize isn't a huge market or a priority for Ford. Already starting to see inventories of both used and new vehicles across the board piling up, and discounts are back. Could (and should) change the course for most of the manufacturers. https://www.axios.com/2024/01/12/car-market-auto-2024-prices

Sorry I derailed the thread to the OP. We are really close to being in a great time to shop for a midsize again with all these new options. Hopefully you're able to score something that meets your needs and wants.

its hard to compare the two, but at the same time Very easy. I like to think of the ranger (lariat) and ranger raptor as 2 separate vehicles. I believe they have 2 different purposes. My suggestion would be to wait for the Tremor with the 2.7 L engine and off-road goodies. you could probably get in a ranger lariat sooner, but i think it is the perfect bridge between the two.

Ohhh, I didn't realize that was an unreleased trim/model. Thanks!
Btw, just a note as an update -- I am test driving a 2023 Colorado ZR2 on Monday and the sales guy said that it would take 4-6 months if I ordered a 2024 (which I think 6 months is perfect for when I'm looking to take possession).

Since this is a ranger thread, I wont spend too much time talking about the Colorado…. If it makes any difference, i bounced from my ranger lariat order to a colorado z71. You can private message me to discuss my thoughts on the Colorado. I dont want to take anything away from this ranger forum. I try to keep it as neutral as possible.

I honestly don't know, but are there any significant changes on the 24?

I just priced out a ZR2. I'm very intrigued.

I wished my Ranger looked like this style. I can't stop looking at the Chevy. I love the ride of my Ranger without question, but Chevy nailed the shape and look of their trucks, IMO.

Good day all!
I'm looking for some advice. I'm new to the Ranger world, but I'm looking to purchase one.
I really, really like the Ranger Raptor, however I discovered that they are not easy to obtain after calling around to some dealers the last couple of days (no allocations near me).
So, my current choice appears to be 1) Maybe get lucky and pick up a 2025 allocation later this year (I'm not in a huge hurry) or 2) Pick up a fully loaded Lariat maybe later this year (maybe even order one custom??)

I'm really not going to off-road / Baja with it. It's primarily going to be highway use. I'd like to take my wife and dogs out on some adventures out west, hit some national & state parts, etc., so I don't know if I'd really get the use of functionality that comes with the Ranger Raptor.
The 3L Engine seems like a big upgrade from the 2.3L, but I don't know how much of a difference that would make or if I would even notice.
With that said, I'm a big fan of the Raptor aesthetics. So much so that almost the entirety of my decision is on looks alone.

As far as I can tell the biggest differences between the Raptor and the Lariat in in the aesthetics department are
  1. Larger fender flares
  2. Meaner looking grill
  3. Larger wheels
  4. Hood Vents
Can any of that be purchased after market and put on the Lariat?
Is there anything else that I missed?

My thinking is this... Even if I did get an allocation, there is no way that I'm going to get away with paying less than MSRP for the Raptor -- So, let's say $57 - $60K.
I'm also an X-Plan member, so (theoretically) my priced out Lariat (~$52K), I could get for maybe something like $49 - $52K.
Would it be possible to just take the extra $8K that I didn't spend on a Raptor and make the Lariat into a similar look?
WAIT until later this year when the 2.7LTR Twin Turbo Ecoboost V6 is available in the Lariat! That's what I'm doing as my 2019 Lariat is in excellent condition and will suit me well until the new edition withthebigger engine is available!

It would take some time for those big pockets under the headlights to grow on me.

I agree, looks like it was intended for fog lights.

they are supposed to give the appearance of air intakes...but they aren't even functional 🙄 the taco has the same design language but slightly less obnoxious, still non functional.

Tacoma has the weird vents on the fender flairs, looks goofy
