The one thing ford has mastered is the setting up controls for the driver that makes sense. Always super intuitive and even more so for towing controls.
I always thought this too. Major & minor controls all are intuitive & easy to understand. I always thought it was because I’ve had Fords of one description or another for almost 20 years. Even going back to 90s era Fords they still have a certain feel that just makes sense to me. I’m sure familiarity does play a big role in that.

So what's the latest update wlarson? Sounds like you test drove a Bison, but are now back to Ford?
Hey, thanks for checking in and I apologize for not following up.
I didn't actually get to test drive the Bison. That would have been really cool though. I actually ended up test driving a Colorado ZR1 as a way to get a feel for what the ZR2 would be like. I thought the price of the Bison was just a tad higher than I was comfortable with, so I was looking for just a normal ZR2.

Anyway, something just didn't feel right to me with the ZR1 -- and I can't really put my finger on what it was. It certainly wasn't the exterior because it's positively gorgeous. Something about the interior just didn't feel right to me.

I will say that I probably have some unconscious bias because I've been driving a ford for the last 15 years, and I've owned other fords for a fair amount of time before that.
So, at that I point I was settled on getting either the Raptor or the Lariat. I called around a little and I couldn't find an allocation for an RR, but my local Ford dealer was willing to put me at the top of the waiting list for a 2025 RR.
I thought that I would just sit on it and wait. Either I would wait to get my order in on a 2025 RR, or a 2024 Lariat would come along and maybe I'd pick that up.

But, I have a bit of an obsessive mind and I can't seem to let things go. So, I broadened my search around Wisconsin for the '24 RR. I found a dealer with an allocation for an RR, but he wanted $5K over MSRP. That just sort of rubbed me the wrong way. I told him that I would have to think about it.

In the meantime, another dealer responded to my query and said that although he didn't have another allocation, he did have a stock order RR that was fully loaded (upgraded tires, engine heater, the works), but it was in Hot Pepper Red. I told him that I would have to think about it.

So, then I went back to dealer 1, told him what I found and asked him again to sell me his allocation for MSRP. He came down to $2500 over, but I'm a (perhaps overly) principled individual so I said no.

Then I thought about dealer number 2, and came to a realization that I really wanted the Carbonized Grey, I really didn't want the Bead Lock Capable Wheels, and I would just have buyer's remorse if I spent that much and had to settle. So, I went back back to dealer 2 also told him 'No'.

Then, he responded back that it just got a build date of March 25, but he thought that he could change it to the spec I wanted if I sent it to him.
I sent him the spec and asked him if he'd sell it to me for MSRP and he responded that he would and he did confirm that he was able to change the order.

I signed the Purchase Order the next day. I'm really happy with the decision.
Even though I realize that the auto prices are likely to tank by the time it gets to me. I figure it will be worth it to get exactly what I want.
