I put the 4WD into action for the first time on Saturday. The FX4 gear didn't have any problems with this trail, but I've got plans for bigger tires/suspension and some other stuff!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Olaf and I drove about 470 miles, all highway, to Columbus OH for a steelmaking conference...rode great, & muck quieter than my 5g, sorry Pepper! About 24 mpg...
I was confused by gas at Sheetz, difference between 87 recommended and 88 octane...thoughts?

Unleaded 87, 89 and 91 are up to 10% ethanol. Unleaded 88 is 15% ethanol, which is why it's cheaper. Flex fuel has anywhere from 51% to 83% ethanol depending on the region and time of year. For this reason, unleaded 88 is sometimes called E15.

I rightly (or wrongly) bought a new Ranger when I was about two weeks away from a planned off road camping trip (Moab) for which I'd be towing my little teardrop trailer. Then I read that I shouldn't tow in the first 1,000 miles. Argh. So I rightly (or wrongly) drove A LOT over the last 10 days, rightly (or wrongly?) careful to follow the break-in guidelines and doing mostly country highways to vary my speeds. Then, today, I hit 1,000 miles. I'm leaving either tomorrow or Tuesday, depending on weather. But while driving I wrongly (or rightly?) took a picture of the odometer at exactly 1000.0 miles while going 47 mph.

Ok, I didn't use it. Wondering about effects of ethanol!

I have a Ranger Raptor but I have to say, that regular Ranger has really grown on me. If I were choosing a standard mid-size today, I'd probably pick the Ranger over Tacoma or GM twins. It surprises me because I wouldn't have said that a year ago when they originally announced it. I thought it was the worst looking of the bunch, but now I think it looks really good!

Part of Bunce School Road and the Bright Trail/Taylor Mountain in Colorado. Bunce was fun, but my wife was eager to hike so we only did part of it. I’ll back soon. Took the dog along and hiked down to Middle St Vrain Creek, about 4 mi round trip. Lovely day. No pics today though.

Bunce School Road is a lot of fun. I've rented a side by side up there, lots of great climbing.

Had an appointment with my dealership today to address a bunch of initial quality things.

Driver's door fitment - they adjusted it to fit correctly.
HVAC control Trim gaps - said this is "normal" and can't be fixed. (About what I expected, I'd rather them not tear my dash apart to fix it anyways)
Poor stitching on the back of the driver's seat - "normal" can't be fixed. (As expected, but wanted to note it)
R Mode button randomly not working - They couldn't replicate and couldn't do anything about it.
Carplay dropouts - Noted, can't addressed.
Lane Keep assist not sensitive enough - noted, not addressed.
J -Braces installed for $350 - Confirmed they couldn't get Ford to pay for it unless I bought a Ford Bedcap.

Its really annoying that so much these days "is software" and they can just completely punt it to Ford to fix. In the days before OTA allowed companies to release half baked products, the dealership would have fixed stuff like this. Stuff like the sensitivity of the steering wheel input for lane keep assist would have been something a competent dealer could go in an adjust a parameter within reason. Now they just shrug and tell you to hope Ford fixes it. And other software glitches would still keep dealers interested in a remedy, because they'd be the ones getting paid to update the software.
