Did you look at the Tacoma to see if that fits your needs. I've seen a lot of people flip to the Canyon or Colorado. I love the truck and I find the new things I have trouble navigating I am loving after a few months, lol.Coming from a BMW, which IMO has the industry best software/UX/control sets, the Ford UX is a bit of a mess. It's like their overall UX team hasn't spent more than a few minutes at a time in the car.
There's 1000 different ways to configure drive modes and no way to save any preferences, outside of the one "R" mode. But the "R" mode doesn't have a toggle feature, so if you're driving around normally, but want to use your "R" settings for full sport, then you have to switch 5 different settings back to normal.
Giant center screen is dumb in general. It should be mounted higher off the dash for visibility like the MachE. There's very few buttons on the center stack and half of them control shit you're never going to use. Who is turning off A/C, changing recirc, or changing fan speed, in a car with climate control? Those buttons already exist 2" above on the center screen. I would much rather have heated seat/steering wheel buttons or a dedicated 360 camera button.
Where there isn't a lack of buttons is the steering wheel. There's 22 different buttons on the wheel (not counting the paddles or stalks), and almost half of them are just for controlling autonomous/safety features.
Lane Centering is bad on any road that's not pretty straight and its already yelled at me multiple times to keep my hands on the wheel, when I have my hands planted firmly on the wheel.
The Off-road screen on the center stack takes at least 10 seconds to fully boot up.
The haptics in the Mode Control knob sound like its already broken.
For some reason not all of the configurable dash screens are available in MyView.
There's no one touch windows in the back seats in a $60,000 truck.
Non software things: My driver's door doesn't line up very well and the leather on the seat does not look like its going to hold up long term.
Overall, still very happy with the truck, but in classic Ford fashion, its a bit of a mess.
In reality if you don't like it, sell it, lots of other options.Great. Another thread for everyone to bitch!![]()
I bought a Raptor. If I wasn't going for the Raptor, I'd probably have bought a Toyota Land Cruiser.Did you look at the Tacoma to see if that fits your needs. Legally, the OEMs cannot do anything about dealer markups. Franchise laws were established decades ago when the dealer was tiny compared to the OEM, to protect the dealers from price-fixing on the part of the OEM. Now, some 50yrs on, there are public dealer groups that are larger than some OEMs and have more power. The OEM can only do so much without the group considering it predatory, and then threatening a lawsuit. It seems that the mfgr does not want to offend dealers by implicitly condoning the markups on the majority of vehicles while seeming to appease some consumers in a segment they currently are struggling a bit in. I may not like mark-ups, but understand dealers have a right to do this currently.
I can just choose to accept it or walk. Fortunately, I already went over all the unnecessary add-ons over MSRP they listed in their first offer and deleted them. They will have one last chance to sell me anything extra on delivery day, an unavoidable step in the process.
I must admit, I like the way my screen, although smaller on my 19 Ranger Lariat, is embedded horizontally and into the dash and not the big giant tablet in your face on the newer. If you think Ford is bad, you should check out Mercedes. My wife's 2019 isn't even touch screen. And for navigation, you have to use the dial to enter numbers/letters one at a time. Voice command is useless, as it never understands what you say. Oh, and you can't just enter and address and go. You have to first enter the name of the municipality/district. Good luck with that when you're travelling and are unfamiliar with the area.
Gotta disagree with you on the screen location though. I absolutely despise the trend of bolting a tablet to the dash.
I agree it's not the best looking design, but I have to give Ford credit for at least integrating it into the dash. Better looking than the MachE IMO
And when iDrive debuted in 2001, BMW was nearly universally panned for the system. Now it's the benchmark. BMW is now on iDrive 9, which might as well be iDrive 18...because there's been a "0.5" iteration every year. The fact that Ford is only up to SYNC 4a, kind of explains the issue here. To be fair to Ford, thought, they sell nearly quadruple the volume of BMW and the first iteration of Sync that I tried out in a 2009 Flex was very good. Haven't had a chance to play with the latest...can't wait to in my Raptor (when it finally arrives).Coming from a BMW, which IMO has the industry best software/UX/control sets, the Ford UX is a bit of a mess. Yeah but the location of this screen puts so much information down low. To use the 360 camera you practically have to stare at the floorboards. Not great for maintaining awareness and using your mirrors in tandem.Gotta disagree with you on the screen location though. I absolutely despise the trend of bolting a tablet to the dash.
