It means "since you didn't buy a bed cap thru Ford, you are not eligible for the Customer Service Program 23P22 ".

Summary: For customers who have purchased a Ford Licensed Accessory Bed Cap (VR1WZ-99501A42- AA/AB/AC/AD/AE/AF/AG/AJ/W/C) through their Ford dealership, Ford recommends the installation of a load box reinforcement bracket kit to improve the structural performance of the bed when used in extreme off-road conditions. This program covers the installation cost of ONLY the load box reinforcement bracket kit, and a $169 customer refund to offset the cost of the kit itself.

If this was in response to my post, I don't think that's the case. They said my VIN isn't associated with the program. What happens if I bought a bed cap through Ford tomorrow? I doubt the VINs are getting added to the program as caps are bought.

Attaching screenshots of my conversation as I think it adds a bit of context.

I assumed that everything done to your truck through a dealer is added to Ford's database.

Updated side rail structure on 09/15 build confirmed. The radiused corner is a big improvement. The sheet metal in the area appears to be a tad heavier than previous.

That's what mine looks like. Build date 10/2024.

Hi all, first time posting on the forums. I discovered this place about a month after purchasing my ranger in January and discovered the J-brace issue. My 24 XLT, has a label late July, so I ordered the Jbraces 3/7 from Ford Accessories. Yesterday, they canceled my order because they are on backorder. (The website still shows them in stock, on the phone they said it should be updated soon with them out of stock which is frustrating)

I had snagged one of the Ford tonneau covers someone on the forum discovered was on sale a month or so ago, so its been in my garage for over a month waiting to go on for these J-braces, and then I ran across this thread today. This is my first time I've heard of Job 1 & Job 2 and saw the photo differences. I knew there was updates in Septemberish, where they truck was corrected goign forward and no one needs J-braces, but reading this post, I crawled under my truck yesterday- I think I have Job #2, does that mean I don't need the j-braces after all? I know this has been asked a bunch of times, but I don't want to damage anything obviously with the weight of the tonneau.

Thank you all in advance.

Casenut98 - The “Job 1” and “Job 2” by the original poster are the same, just photos from a different angle. Your photos show the area from before the change was made and will require the J-brace should you want to put the added weight on top of the truck bed sides. Your photos are from the bottom of the area and show the bolts you will use to attach the braces.

I have a build date on the door jamb sticker of 1/24. I thought I would give the support chat a go to see if they are sick of the complaints and will offer some recompense for thier acknowledged design flaw. Well... I was told my VIN is not associated with the program! They gave me a phone number to call for more detailed technical support and they also said the same thing. Neither person seemed knowledgeable about it.
