After putting a hard tonneau on my ranger, I noticed as others have that water gets through the stake holes on the bed rails. I've seen others use silicone caulking to seal the covers on the rails. I didn't want to go that route and discovered these solid rubber grommets on amazon for 10 bucks. I used them to plug the holes under the rail covers in a way that is easily removable. I will have to wait till the next rain or wash to test them but in theory it seems like a solid plan. Gysxrda Rubber Grommet Kit 200... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09XVDTQ8F?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Looks good - but how do you snap the plate back on with the anchor holes plugged?

Used that kit too. Also, you have a ton of other holes along both rails to plug plus, the 6MM & 8MM screw holes, plus you'll neeed to shove a tennis ball into the front two corners, plus the 1/4" gap around the tailgate needs to be sealed. Already several threads on this. Best bet is to just try to get it dryer. It most likely will never totally dry.

Oh my buckeye friend, I was where you are now once too.

Prepare for disappointment, unless of course you like Swiss cheese. Ford has done a great job of allowing a myriad of accessories to work with the ranger. That comes at the cost of being waterproof.

I removed the top rails, broke the same clip on both sides! Laid down some vinyl and siliconed the places where the caps pierced the vinyl. 34 penetrations per side.

This is smart. I'm gonna order those grommets and give it a go.

FWIW, I installed rubber grommets in my stake pocket holes and didn't see a material change in terms of water ingress.

I'm wondering if sealing the underside of the stake pocket covers with butyl tape would work. Obviously, you'd have to remove the bed rail caps, but it might be a better solution compared to silicone. Would probably look better too...

Re those 6 inserts on the rails. I was told they aren't the actual stake holes. The stake holes are on the 4 corners. under the 6 covers thewe are holes for accessories. Is this correct? I put plugs from Amazon but water goes into bed. I guess the best way seal is covering with tape as someone earlier reported. But I think, with bed rug I have installed, won't worry about water getting in.

Some tape probably would work. I haven't noticed enough water getting in my ford trifold hard cover even in a car wash to worry about doing anything else but if you're going for water tight that would be a good thing to try

I think neatly sealing the stake pocket covers and also between the truck bed/outsides of the trim with neutral curing silicone is the way to go. I masked everything up with blue painters tape, and just took my time. I did the front corners of the bed with water sealing tape from the inside of the bed. Also did a tailgate seal kit. It's working really well so far with my retractable tonneau to prevent dust and water in the bed. My tonneau also covers the stake bed pockets.

Does anyone have a good solution for the hole at the front corner of the bed?

Did you ever find any answers or resolution to this issue? Thanks
I have not. I was going to remove my cover and seal the bed rail first and see how much intrusion I get from that hole.

I just put on a bed cover and finally recognized the size of the opening. Maybe a stupid question but does a lot/can a lot of water come in from that opening?

Pool noodles. Cut off a 12" piece. Slice that into two C shaped pieces. Fold those in half, and shove them into the holes. Trim excess.
