Just wondering if any of you have equipped your Ranger to be towed behind a motorhome. My understanding it can be flat towed with no issues.

Thanks for your replies. What threw me for a loop was that Blue Ox and others make base plates for the Ranger, but not for the '24 Ranger, only the '19-23 Rangers. Gotta read the small print in the ads!

I supposed I need to decide if we want to get back into RVing. The used market is just flooded right now and it is a huge buyers market.

The trailer is probably the best option which is better than relying on Enterprise for local touring. Once my Lariat arrives then I'll see what we want to do.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you can tow about any manual transmission vehicle. The last gen had a manual as an option? You might want to cancel your Ranger order and get a manual Tacoma. Verify everything I said of course.

We had a 2020 Blazer with an automatic transmission and we towed it four down. There are specific vehicles that can be towed and auto or manual transmission is not necessarily the determining factor. A transfer case that can go into neutral is a great situation.

I'll stay with the Ranger. My wife's car is a Rav 4 and I'm not real impressed with it. I can always get a trailer or even just rent from Enterprise if we get back into RVing. That's kind of a big if at the moment on the return to the RV.

The Rav 4 is meant to be affordable reliable transportation. Its an appliance, not meant to be loved.

No manual trans in a US Ranger since the 4G died out in 2011.
And I think flat towing the 5G is only available with 4x4.
Sucks to hear that 6G can't be flat towed. I hope dealers are making this clear. A lot of RV owners are going to get shafted or avoid Rangers all together.

Yeah, I think the answer to this particular problem is a manual transmission Tacoma. I bought a ranger and really like it but it doesn't fit this use.

I think I remember hearing that the towing issue will be fixed for the 2025 model ranger. If i remember correctly someone on this forum talked to an engineer about it. So if you're not in a rush, you may be good just waiting a bit for the 2025s.

I’ve heard this rumor too, so while this doesn’t make it authoritative, I can at least confirm that this rumor exists.

I had waited for the 2.7 v6 and since they’re not shipping until at least next month I decided to wait at least until the 2025 rangers are announced. I originally set out to buy a 2023, so after all this time, what’s an extra couple of months?

So, why can't the Ranger be flat towed? It's not full time 4wd. However, for some dumb reason there is no neutral in the transfer case.
