I purchased an 12 volt oil pump off Amazon, insert the small tube down the dip stick tube and the other tube into an oil recover container [oil should be warm] and removed 6 qts of oil. It nice that the oil filter is on top of the engine. Nice and clean don't have to crawl under the truck. Cake walk.I put one of those Ronin on my truck on first oil change. Next change should be better...
I like the idea of the Ronin, but what I would like to see is a video of how much oil remains in the pan after draining from the valve, then removing the valve and measuring the remaining oil. I suspect it will be quite a bit.
per the manufacture it is 1/4 cup (aprox 2 oz) more then would otherwise be removed if the front wheels are elevated. You can also easily remove the plug to fully remove the oil after getting most out...speaking from experience removing the drain plug with a truck full of oil is a very very messy proposal.I like the idea of the Ronin, but what I would like to see is a video of how much oil remains in the pan after draining from the valve, then removing the valve and measuring the remaining oil. I get that. I’ve changed my 2.7 three times now. I would still like to know exactly what that 1/4” equates to before buying one.per the manufacture it is 1/4 more then would otherwise be removed if the front wheels are elevated. not 1/4 inch; 1/4 cup. so 2 oz?I get that. I’ve changed my 2.7 three times now. I would still like to know exactly what that 1/4” equates to before buying one.
I would hope the pickup is too high to catch it. The Ronin style has the magnet to help with metal debris. But the one of the purposes of the pan is to keep that stuff down there and out of circulation along with the filter. I'm not too concerned about it though.I’m not bagging on your choice, I like the idea.
There is also this option for a drain plug which would have the same issue. There is also the possible concern of the draining oil not scouring the bottom on the pan, possibly leaving any sludge or debris.
It starts at about the 13:50 mark on the YouTube video. Are we supposed to watch the video to read the Blackstone report, or am I missing the attachment somewhere?
