Looking at possible purchase of a 24 Lariat 2.7 my local dealer has on the lot. Has everything i want on it including FX4.
Deciding between the 24 or waiting for them to get in a 25 they have on order.

Question is for you that have the 24’s have you seen the “first year gremlins” or have the 24’s been solid?
The truck I’m looking at was built in mid Sept 24.

Cost diffference aside should I wait for the 25 or jump on the 24?

My current 23 Colorado Z71 has been a pain in the a#$ due to the first year infotainment issues/gremlins and Im not keeping it past 36k.
Currently at 30k and drive about 1k miles per month right now.

Most of them are documented around the forum. I personally haven't experienced many issues (built feb 2024) but some of the main things people have seen: Misaligned hood, hood hard to latch, back seat fold down hard to latch, loose driver seat leather, doors requiring slamming until seal wears down, back brake light misaligned and causing a paint chip. Most of these are easily fixed other than the loose leather issue & the brake light paint chip. Ford issued service bulletins for dealer service departments to check all these things & adjust them anytime they see the trucks come in.

I followed the 23 Colorado/Canyon forums before i made my decision and I will say the first year gremlins on the rangers were small potatoes compared to the stuff i saw people dealing with on the GM trucks like the headlight toggle not working, the denting roofs and hail damage from factory. Once I read about the consistent issues with those trucks I quickly made my decision on the ranger and I haven't regretted it at all.

I haven't really seen many issues with the infotainment on any of the rangers except for the occasional complaint that carplay/android auto is being stubborn, but i don't think that's totally a ford problem.

Mid-September is right around the time the "fix" was implemented for the j-braces, so if you care you might want to check if the '24 you're considering is pre- or post-fix for the j-braces.

I don't know if you care, or will care, about flat-towing, but the 2024 rangers are not flat-towable while the 2025 rangers are.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I wanted to wait for the 24 Ranger to replace my 21 Tremor but decided to go with the Colorado. Wish I had waited.

I took delivery of my 24 Lariat 2.7 FX4 in Mid October (door tag shows 9/24 mfg date) and so far it has been flawless for 6,000 miles. Im sure there are posts in the forum but Im not aware of any significant changes coming for the ‘25 that would make it worth waiting for.

If you see one in the color/trim you like I would recommend buying rather than waiting because some of them can go fast when they hit the dealer lots.

Technically, it's not the first year for these trucks. This generation has been around since 2022, mainly in Australia.

Mine was built in September 2024. My only complaint is some rattling from the lock/memory buttons in the doors when listening to anything with modest amounts of bass.

A 2024 should have a really good price to be worth buying, well below sticker, it is already a “year old” truck and the resale value will be less because of that. If you plan to keep it more than a couple of years, that really shouldn’t matter too much.

I buy “old” items all the time, electronics and appliances mostly, due to their heavy discounts. I have a hard time rationalizing paying $500 for a new model printer when the last version is $250… too bad cars aren’t this way, except for models nobody wants. Like electric cars.

Interesting, not that I'll ever flat-tow my truck but for my curiosity's sake, what changed that made it flat-tow-able?

Mine was a March build, 14k, zero issues. Sync had tat update I think in September and now it works perfect too.

Mine was a March build as well. Two issues: the bezel ring was missing on the drive modes switch and an AC line was not assembled correctly. Approaching 10k miles now. 2.3L. Wouldn’t change a thing. Only complaint is the rear headrests don’t fold so that you can lay the seat back flat. Stored them under the seat until I need them. Heads up if you install a bed cover…seal the holes under the bed caps before installation. I have to do-over when the weather breaks. The truck is fun to drive. Occasionally, there’s more road noise than I would like. Overall I’m really happy with this purchase.
