Paint chipping above the tail light

Has anybody else seen this before? I Had the truck for a week and the drivers side on the top right side of the tail light has started chipping the paint. The only thing I can think that is causing it is the tail light housing is tight to the paint and chipping it?

The panel has been hit and bent inwards, the paint appears to be cracked. But you need to post a much better picture without any reflections….. It is mechanical damage that the dealer should fix, though proving that the truck came that way will be very hard.

in the Facebook groups there are several people who have the exact same paint chipping above the tail lights. I went out and looked at mine. No chipping on mine, but the panel and light are practically touching. Seems the tolerances were a little tight between the two pieces.

I just checked and mine does have a chip in the same spot on the driver's side. The taillight is touching the fender there too. I wonder if it was done during installation. They can fix it at the same time they fix my hood that is dented near the heat extractors. Based on my paint thickness gauge, the hood was resprayed at the factory but it was a half-assed attempt at getting the dents out. Maybe one reason for the long delay in my Feb build.

Was not hit probably just a bad angle. I was putting my ceramic coat on when I found it. Sorry went on vacation will post another picture when I get home.

Adding a photo of mine. Initially I thought it was just soap residue but after using a fine detailing brush I can see it is a paint chip.

Annoying thing about this is I don't want to repaint anything unless absolutely needed (accident)...so the remedy for me is essentially going to be a bottle of touch up paint...bummer!

Were you able to get your hood covered by Ford? I haven't had luck getting movement on that. I am close to deciding where I want to get PPF done but don't want to waste money to have it redone if the hood can be fixed or replaced.
I'm not saying that a vehicle has to be perfect paint wise, but if there are common issues that are not just cosmetic, they should be corrected. Also, I think this is the worst paint I've seen on a new vehicle. I had 3 small rock chips within the first month (no off road). Even my old F150 that has paint bond issues on the doors and tailgate never had issues with rock chips on the hood.

I haven't talked to the dealer about it yet. It's a tough one because I only notice it when I'm in the drivers seat where it is quite obvious. You can't see it while walking around the front of the truck. I've tried to take a picture to capture it but there are too many reflections on that curved section to see it with the camera.

I've been thinking about PPF for the front also. I drive roads in the winter that have sand and gravel spread on them for traction. I always get a few pecks in the paint and small chips in the windshield every winter. My 5 year old BMW looks like the windshield has been sandblasted when I drive into the sun.

I couldnt see it on my wife's Ranger Raptor until I took a picture and zoomed in. There is clearly one there. Although way smaller than the ones everyone here is seeing. Nonetheless it is still there and needs attention. I don't think I need to prove it was there when I bought it. Probably by installation procedure used in assembly unfortunately. This will be handled by my warranty.

The dealership finally got back to me with a plan to pull the bed and repaint with 2 new taillights and stickers. The problem is it’s a week or longer and they are saying no loaner.
