Thank you for this post!! Any tricks for removing the mirror shroud? What type of clips does it use? How many are there?
Yeah. What he said. I have the same cord sitting in my tool box. Took it out of my Tacoma. One look at the Raptor mirror and I said I'll let someone else do it.

Naw, it was actually really easy. Take out the small piece first right behind the mirror stem. Then remove the larger surrounding piece. I've done it a few times now.

Got my Blendmount today and installed everything using one of my old mirror taps. Took a while to get the mirror shroud off and had fun with the multimeter. Talk about cramped space.

I found 12v and ground on the drivers side wiring harness shown here (the gray harness, not what my finger looks like it's pointing at):

Unplug the harness and tap wires as follows: WHITE = 12v switched, BLACK/PURPLE STRIPE = Ground.

Plug harness back in, put shroud back in place, install mirror mount (or use suction cup thingy) and enjoy noisy alerts when LEO's shoot radar guns at you unless you're in Mississippi, Virginia, or military bases.

Not sure what I'm going to do for a dash cam. There's no way 2 mirror mounts will fit.
Thanks for putting this together! Just did mine and was an easy 10 min install due to your notes. Really appreciate it. The little security cable wasn't connected on mine so came off easy.

Can anyone provide any part numbers for Blendmounts that would work with a Uniden R8 in the RR, along with possibly something to hold a Vantrue N4 Pro dashcam?

If you contact Blendount directly they can tell you which kit you need to put together for your needs.

Is the gray the one leading to the mirror or is there a different 16 pin one hidden in this view like what's on the bronco?

The reason I ask is to figure out if one of the dongar-like 5pin adapters would work here to get a USB port.

So the overseas Rangers get USB ports in the mirror mount from Ford. It looks like they've been removed from the NA model. But in this screen shot I can see where it would mount. Maybe there will be a way to order the USB harness from overseas and add the port back in:

When my truck comes in, Ill be moving over my radar detector and dash cam. My detector is currently tapped into the rear view mirror electricals. My dash cam I have tapped into the fuse box by my footwell.

Has anyone done either one yet? Does anyone have pictures of where to tap up by the rear view mirror and which fuses to tap by the footwell in the Ranger?
Ok, I know that this is probably a dumb question, but with the six auxiliary switches sitting right there at the mirror, it’s not possible to set one of them up to power a radar detector? I just picked up an Escort Redline 360C, and was just looking for a good way to get power to that unit.

It wouldnt be optimal as most of those connections are nowhere close to the mounting point. Doing the mirror tap makes it clean and no need to use up an Aux switch.

Appreciate you guys posting how/where you mounted the bendable rear window bracket from The Dashcam Store.

Combined that idea with a 3D printed bracket I saw someone made for a Tundra. There is a roughly 2" wide slot in the frame directly above the rear sliding window in our truck that looked like the perfect spot to hang a Viofo A229 Pro 2ch. I tested opening/closing the window with this in place a number of times, and I did not notice the glass touching or grazing the bracket at all.

It sits tight but didn't snap in place how I intended so I used a small strip of 3M VHB tape where the underside of the bracket sits on the top of the window frame. I hate rattles so hopefully this keeps it quiet.

I'll throw the model up on thingiverse if anyone is interested. It isn't the best or prettiest design, but I think it works! Printed out of PETG so I think it should last.

I used this USB port and tap and it worked out great. Trimmed a bit of the cover away to make space.
ETA - I realize the is the Raptor forum, mine is an XLT, but I thought it might be helpful anyway.

I was able to to successfully modify the Dongar 5-Pin Type F connector to work with my Ranger Raptor.

Their adapter has an outer alignment fin on the bottom of both sides of the male connector along with a center alignment fin. In comparison to the gray 5 pin connector located behind the center rearview mirror, I noticed the center alignment fin was offset to the right by almost a full slot. The rest of the connector appeared to line up correctly. So I modified the male and female connectors as show in the photos below.
*Credit goes to @jrRaptor for the pic of where the connector is behind the mirror.*

Note: the male end of the Dongar adapter actually locks into the factory harness after being modified. However, the factory male end does NOT lock into the female end of the adapter. (The locking tab appears to be slightly to far back.) I remedied this by wrapping it with a piece of electrical tape. (But may end up covering it with a piece of heatshrink for added security.)

Factory 5 pin connector located here.

Thanks very much to TCharlieB for great photos and info, I successfully modified a Dongar 5pin Type F Ford harness and installed today. Camera working A-1.

Nope, sorry I should have snapped one.
If it still helps, that USB tap + Radar detector tap thing went together like this - see attached pictures. I intentionally let the radar tap connector hang outside the shroud so I could swap detectors if I needed to (my Uniden and Radenso use different connectors).
