$225 is a great price. I was quoted between $500 - $650 from a number of places. I am deciding to wait and purchase them with installation from the ford site when they come back in stock.
Yeah I’m in a similar boat..
from what i gather the reason the dealer quote is high is because they haven’t done one before…
Which i get, but at the same time, I’m being punished for buying a brand new car and needing a part installed? For something ford should have installed in the first place..

Seems to be what they were basing that number off of. I'll take it!

Still ridiculous that a $60k+ truck needs a $200 piece of metal to get some rails or a cab on.

The dealer I called to do the work claims they've done it before on normal Rangers, so I can see why they are low on their install price.

Update 9/24/24:
Got my brackets installed today. Total was $337 (1.5 hr labor). The dealership did me a solid because this actually took the service dept around 4 hours to complete, but I had called about a dozen times beforehand to make 100% clear the price I was going to pay.

It was a massive pain to do this from start to end, but I FINALLY got it done.

Edit:
If any of you guys also happen to get lucky and score some of these from a random dealership, do what I did and have your dealership agree on a price to install beforehand. Quote the parts website install price as a starting point.

Well, owners should get the reinforcement brackets as part of the recall not only with a topper, but for a tonneau cover with racks, which will definitely result in more than 88 pounds above the bedrails. Will also try asking on their social media site for them to clarify the Ranger recall.
@Ford Motor Company should try to look into this and formally clarify for Ranger owners here.
Hey @Ford Motor Company

Make things right with a recall for all Rangers so we can use it like a real truck.. 88lbs on bed rails is nothing these days.

These kits should be installed by a body shop, it will be significantly cheaper and the end result will probably be a higher quality. Of the three Ford dealers near me, none have an attached body shop. Moreover, the advisor of my nearest dealer flat out told me “We would take your truck to a body shop for that kind of job.” So, extra billing, the dealer becomes the middle man, and you have to accept that young shop drones will be driving your new truck TWICE.

The labor should be 2 hours or less. It is a very simple mod, and the only possible issue would be broken plastic trim clips.

My local Ford dealer has a body shop (already had a couple panel alignment issues resolved under warranty there). I’ll be inquiring on this when I schedule my window recall and ProCal tune install. My EGR tonneau arrives today (shipping weight is roughly 160lbs).

I just took my RR into my dealership for some recall work (hood not latching, rear seatback not latching, and the driver's side door arm rest creaking). He indicated the Ford is now installing the Load Box Reinforcement Bracket as a recall item... IF you have a shell or camper installed. They will only do the recall if you have a shell/camper. 🤷‍♂️

I'm not sure if that is the case with everyone else, but that is what they told me and what is on my paperwork.

Just a little FYI.
Now I know what the dealership meant when they said "We will assess if the reinforcement is needed"... I told them I already have the brackets, they were really surprised (got them from AU, thanks John D) but told me to bring them along. We'll see next Tuesday... the EGR cover will be waiting.

My J braces just came in today. I ordered them from the Ford dealer parts counter August 24th. Now I just have to wait for my raptor to get here. Schedule to build next week 9/30.

Even though the website wouldn't let you order them because they were out of stock.

I just called and scheduled a Ford mobile service appointment for my door module/window recall and they mentioned they saw the load box reinforcement recall on my VIN too, (which would be done by their body shop). Think I'm going to get this done now if it shows as available. My EGR Rolltrac install is in a couple weeks.

Are they offering to install the parts as part of the "recall"? The service centers will see it as a recall but it is actually a CSP so it won't be free unless you install a cap/topper from Ford at the service center.

I know the fine print includes that detail... but if they are willing to do the labor as part of it despite not buying a topper from Ford I won't complain.
