Hey guys. Thought Id give an update. I dropped my RR off at the dealer Wednesday morning and as of Friday morning, nothing has been done. The service department is baffled on how to fix it and dont know how to proceeded. They said nobody has seen it before.

I have allowed two days of good grace on my part and I am starting to get really frustrated now. Am I in the right? A 5 day old truck should not be in the shop for multiple days, not even counting that I need to get to work!

The RR is an engineering marvel, but for a dealer to be stuck on the door keypad seems odd to me. Let me know what you guys think.

Why can't it just be replaced and they program a new one and off you go happy.

agreed with this. The keypad is a $120 add-on from the accessories website that can be added & programmed at anytime.

if you've got a bunk device and the dealer is unable to factory reset or get the original code working, it seems trivial to remove the old device and replace it with a working one.

Did you share with them the SSM I posted above?

Man this is a drag. I hate having to be pushy and I hate how this has taken three and now four service appointments. The dealer is pissed off at me and SMS's with attitude. The part was ordered Thursday night and will be here over the weekend and ready by Monday. I said I have to get to work and need a loaner vehicle which they said they dont have.
They then turned on a dime and said they are dropping the truck off at my house immediately and I must schedule another service appointment at a later date to get it fixed.

I was then told that this is not the dealers fault because customers set up the door key pad and issues are like this are simply the nature of selling cars. They said that the doors work fine and I need to relax on the issue.

Im stuck here because the dealer has to program the new key pad for me. If I could just buy the part and install it, I would.

I wish this was easier.

Hi there, Noah! This definitely doesn’t sound like the experience we want you to be having– If you'd like to, go ahead and send a message to us with your VIN and approximate mileage. I’d be happy to look into this for you. Thanks!

Sounds like the typical Ford dealer. We got your money, so don't bother us. The fact they should be reminded of is the keypad is an OPTION and it was paid for, so it should work. If they had bothered to run your VIN and looked in Oasis, they would have seen the SSM I posted and the process they need to follow. Clearly Ford had enough of these issues coming in that they felt the need to create an SSM, and that will only grow now that they moved the F150 to this wireless keypad setup to save money. Whether the card was in the truck from the factory or not, is not your fault. Ford dealers want to charge a premium for these Ranger Raptors in many cases, yet don't want to give you the appropriate after-sales support. I'd be emailing or calling that Dealer's GM to vent, and I would open a case with Ford. The fix should be to send a tech to your house to resolve it, or they may be able to get the code using the SSM process, and simply provide it to you.

Unixadam thank you. I feel like "nobody" is on my side on this and the dealer is putting me down. Working with this dealer has made me think that maybe I am the problem and that it is my fault.... It absolutely is not, I know this, but like the title of this thread states, its driving me crazy!

The steps you mentioned at the end of your message will be my next. Its tough to vent in this situation because things seem to escalate and the circle continues.

The RR is one of, if not the coolest, best featured and most unique trucks on the market. This is not what I was hoping for when I bought one.

I will keep up the updates. Thank you everyone for the help.

I don’t see what the big deal is with dealership service.

“Remove the keypad and replace it with another remote start keypad that programs correctly. Alternative is; to reset the unit utilizing FDRS.” With the newer control unit, it requires the FDRS to program it anyway.

I’d say if you’re having this much difficulty with this dealership service, I’d find another to deal with..🤔🇺🇸

Well, I can gladly say that this story can come to an end.
After the fall out with dealer #1, I called dealer #2 and right away the service guy said he cant pull the code and to just call ford to not waist my time. He said he had the same issue on a new Bronco and needed to call the delivery dealer for that customer to get the code. He said the delivery dealer HAS to store the code so I just needed to find out which dealer it was for me and then call them.

My window sticker conveniently was blank where the delivery info was after a call to Ford, I was able to get a dealer name and phone number in Iowa.

After calling the dealer in Iowa and sounding crazy about a truck I purchased in Texas.... he found the code and it worked!

I am both so relieved that this is over and annoyed that I had piece this together on my own.

When buying a new ranger, don't leave the dealer without the door code!

Thank you all. Maybe someone can learn from my troubles and prevent their own heartache.

So my dealer didn’t set up anything and I’m having issues with the key pad as well. I saw online that on the RR I’m supposed to be able to place both keys on the key programmer in the console and go through a series of steps and the code is supposed to display on the info center, but it does absolutely nothing. Online the UN”help”FUL instructions then say “take it to the dealer and give them more money”. Okay, that’s not a quote but it does say “there may be a fee”. Seriously? I paid 65K for the truck and at least $120.00 for a lock that doesn’t work on said 65K truck and you’re going to charge me to get it to work now? Very frustrating.

Got my 24 Ranger Raptor last week and its awesome as expected.
I never got the door key code in the glovebox with the truck and the dealer and Ford seemingly are unable to locate the code after two visits to the dealer.

I was able to stick my head in the drivers footwell and find the door code printed on a computer module.

That door code lets me into the "set your own code" settings in the vehicle system but the factory code I read off the box and the one I just set dont unlock the doors from the outside.

Im I missing something simple? This is a feature I used a lot on my maverick and really would like to work!

-Noah
Probably not helpful but on my 2002 Lightning the door code is on a sticker on the brake pedal

Putting each key in the backup slot and then cycling the ignition each time should bring up the keyless code in the message center if it’s a push button start with factory keyless entry.

Except they seemed to have not finished the software at the factory or something, and while the software appears to be there on the screen, it actually doesn't work, and the only code that works is the one the dealer would have handed you on a separate card.
