I'm not exactly sure what my yearly rate is, but I do know that my multi-policy / accident free rate went up from the 24 Bronco BB 2.3 to the Ranger Lariat 2.7 as pickup trucks are generally more expensive to insure. I did compare that rate to a Raptor - the Raptor would have been $19/month more. The rate depends on your 3-year driving history, whether you have a no-fault mandate in your state and where you live. If you have a lot of knuckleheads in your area - or live in a urban area generally, your rate will be higher, usually much higher than a rural community.

I finally changed companies shortly after buying my Ranger Raptor, it appears I saved about $250 by shopping around after being lazy for so many years. Looks like it's about $550 for 6 months on my Ranger Raptor, but I also have a boss mustang and a pricey Harley-Davidson, so multi vehicle and giving them my house insurance, probably the biggest help. Like cell phone companies, be prepared to go somewhere else to save money. Probably the same coverage. Mine is State farm now.

They still run that auction in Perkiomenville on Monday nights. When I was young, we would take our heifers and bulls down there to sell. That was the late 60's. Had to get out of there. Too many people.

Good News (I Hope) When I bought my Ranger last September, the sticker showed it had not been rated by the government 5-star safety program which is one of the factors in determining your insurance costs. The Ranger has now been rated (August 7, 2024) Vehicle Detail Search - 2024 FORD RANGER (SUPER CREW) PU/CC 4WD | NHTSA and received a 4-Star overall rating with a 5-Star frontal barrier rating for driver and passenger. My insurance company said this will reduce my costs when I renew in April.

The NHTSA Technical Report (v15087R001.pdf) has some interesting photos of the underbody with engine drive train, suspension, and body components in different colors, as well as post-crash (35 mph) pictures.

Some of y’all need to shop around. Being loyal to an insurer just means you’re paying more.

Insurance companies are out of control. They are supposed to compete, but they aren't. They are playing follow the leader. If one raises prices everyone else follows
Don't buy it. No one is forced to buy insurance.

Well kind of in Pa no insurance and the state police come and take your tags.
If you are financing it is a requirement or no loan.

Nope. If you can show financial responsibility, every state will allow you to self insure. If you can't do that, you can still choose to drive or not drive on public roads. You aren't forced ... ever.

You need car insurance to register a car in MA. It's also against the law to drive without it.
