My son is a Master Body Tech so I brought it up to him, took a little over an hour because one of the tie down bolts stripped. Instead of drilling out the rivets, he used a mini belt sander (1/4”?) and ground them off.
Even just hitting them with something to flatten then will help emmensly with getting the bit not to walk. EGRs seem weak compared tot he Ford braces. Maybe it doesn't matter.
I got a brand new set of egr j braces. If anyone wants to buy them make me an offer. I'm not installing them because I got a soft tonneau and don't think I need to.
Installed mine today. If you go this route, someone said in a different thread to use a pipe wrench to loosen the tiedown bolts. It worked for me then used a dewalt mini impact with the torx 40 loaded straight into it.
Am I correct in my understanding that the EGR braces don’t require cutting of the existing bracket like I’ve seen in the OEM brace installation videos?
