Thanks for the detailed reply. Is the $1100ish + install worth it compared to the factory ACC if all I want it for is long highway drives? Or is the factory ACC good enough if that's the only use case (since this involves no stop lights and such)?

I think my only annoyance with the OEM ACC is that it thinks my hands are off the wheel unless I actively keep shaking it to make it think I am.
Just installed mine. It is much better as far a lane centering. No more fighting it and no more keep hands on wheel. Just my opinion.

Drove 100 miles on curvy interstate... a lot less movement side to side than factory lane centering but still more that I would like, but overall great. Well worth it to me. Hands free except nudging wheel to start lane change then it changes for me.

Ford Blue Cruise only works on "mapped" interstate highways. Comma.ai works on any road with lines.

Don't know if $24 monthly comma subscription required for mapping and gps for turn by turn. I don't subscribe yet. Not much info on web sight. No way to contact other than so email. Been 3 days no response.

I've gotta say, not a shittier feeling than going through the entire install process and not having the thing turn on.

I took it all apart, did a test boot up of the device (worked just fine), buttoned everything back up, and now it's not powering on. Taking all of that apart was a bitch.

Granted, I'm slower than some others because I'm trying not to snap a panel or scratch the instrument cluster. Just wish there was a better way to do this. Honestly tempted to throw up my hands and just return the damn thing, leaving the harness in place and disconnected

Update:

Took the dash apart again and saw that the USB extension cable had slipped out of position on the wiring harness. Plugged it back in, reassembled, and I think we're good.

I drove around on the sunnypilot dev branch and it seemed to work well around town. Haven't given it any highway time.

What branch is everyone else running?

Compatibility with this is one of the reasons I went with my 24 ranger raptor.

Took it on an 8,500 mile road trip from the east coast through colorado, utah and wyoming last September. We drive stragiht from new england to colorado in about 30 hours taking shifts and open pilot is the only way it's possible. This way we have more time in the mountains. Did this towing a home made 2,000 lbs fully loaded camp trailer.

Previously did this with our subaru. The ranger (and raptor in particular) opens up a lot of exploration. Did the alpine loop in the San Juans and a bunch of the 4x4 roads in Arches, Shafer Canyon Road in Canyonlands / Moab, Hurrah pass, etc.

Highly recommend open pilot, and works well with the ranger raptor thanks to efforts of those working on blue pilot. It's not even comparable to the stock lane keep. I use the stock ACC and don't mess at all with traffit lights / stop signs for now.

For ford, blue pilot is a must.
Uninstalled openpilot and installed bluepilot I thought, but it says Sunnypilot??????

Bluepilot is basically modified sunnypilot with some ford specific things added in. They likely don't change the branding and just focus on ford specific technicals.

If you have any issues or specific questions I would ask in their discord. Someone will be able to help. It's just a section of the sunnypilot discord.

Once in go to the ford channel, after any unlock or agreement task.

Maybe the link is just for the F-150? on some fairly sharp turns my instrument cluster kept telling me to keep hands on wheel and was beeping at me. Also seemed to ping pong like in a rocking chair. Went bact=k to openpilot for now.
