In Australia the aux 5 and 6 switches only come on with high mean. Sadly this is not the case in the US. The switched are powered all the time. I connected it to my lightbar but it is on all the time.

Anyone have any idea how to make the power on those switches to only work with high beams?

I know the high beams are CAN BUS operated, so I think I need a CAN reader that would output analog signals That I can run to a relay in between the aux 6 wire and the lightbar. I think there are some CAN BUS readers out there that do this. Does anyone have experience with any of them?

it depends on your lights type. there are three, two can be piggybacked and on has a cut wire for highbeam signal provisioned

The Ranger Raptor only has one type of lights in the US. I believe it is type 3, but I don't think you can piggy back off anything as it is CANBUS activated.

I spent forever researching this for the 24 Lariat I had and never found an answer. I ultimately put a relay that gave power when the fog lights turned off, but I want to find a better solution for this.

This is what I am looking at. I think i can wire as ->lights->power box->AUX 5. That way i can set the lights to work with the high beams only while AUX 5 is on. The downside, I think, is that the auxiliary lights can only come on when the high beams are on. Can't be triggered separately.
Yeah, I was looking at that too. I have not seen any info though on anyone using it. I will google this some more, but I think I will go this route.

I emailed them to ask if this will work on US Raptors but have not heard back. It does look like an answer. Once they get back to me, I will update everyone.

It really ashamed that Ford did not wire this up like in Australia.
there are a couple of different wiring...in AU the law states aux lights needs to be wired to high-beam, in most of the other countries not. in EU you do not have such rule, but you are responsible to not use aux lights on roads. so you can wire to aux switches
the difference is in how the AUX relay is wired on our truck. in EU all my 6 switches have independent relay, with different rating. in AU AUX5 and 6 switch has a relay already wired with high-beam. that's why altiq says you can just plug in the cut wire under the hood and all works. the AUX switch will simply switch off the light, while when on they will work automatically with high beam on.
in eu is not like that, and I think in US you have the same thing we have in EU.
if you have the cut wires under the hood, then you can wire directly the lights and the switch will just turn them on or off. if you want to use high beam automatically, then you need to either piggy back or use the cut wire highbeam that exists only in mod 2 lights.
your light is mod 3, hence you should use piggyback as described and all will work for what you want/need

I find using high beam as a switch for aux lights not optimal. the delay with on/off imposed by the sensors make it weird to me. I have the aux light bar, and I want it on or off whenever I choose so.

Yes, I was aware of all of this. Since this is CANBUS, Ford could have easily put a setting that says, use with high beam or not. Alas, I ordered the XBB thingy and will use that. I will report back on findings.

I did this on my Lariat by making a relay trigger when fogs lights turn off, but since I would like to use Bambi mode this would not work. If the XBB works, I am good. If not, then the fog light hack will be the way for me to go. I really had no issue with the same light on my Lariat triggered by the high beams. It worked fine and I really only used the light when driving on empty roads at night. I like to drive fast, so the light made it so I don't over-drive my lights. Which I can tell you that at 90 MPH is easy to do with the stock high beams.

Update: I installed the XBB dongle and it works perfectly. This thing is actually great. You download the recipe for the 2023 Ranger Raptor from Australia and it picks up a bunch of CANBUS signals.

It works for high beams, turn signals, parking light, hazards, reverse lights, etc. So now, my light bar comes on with the high beams when aux 6 is powered. I have had no issues with auto high beams, they go on and off just fine with the light bar illuminated.

I also suppose, you could easily wire it up so that aux 6 could be triggered by high beams and aux 5 could turn it on and off independently of the high beams.
