Hi all. Obviously, I didn’t buy this truck for its great MPG, that being said; I did think I’d fare a LITTLE better than this.

To add some context, I’m in Texas at sea level, and have the ProCal installed for a little less than a month now, have been filling with 93 octane since then, and have 2500 miles on the dash, bought a 24’ new in January

Did my first tank of exclusively highway miles, with not much overtaking etc, in normal mode. Ran about 200 miles in the afternoon, fully highway, minimal to no stops or idling (minus a very quick 4 min McDonald’s drive thru) and only got 15.9mpg on my entire trip.

ive seen some posts in here of yall getting close to 20, in some cases 21. Just curious if anyone else has had the same experience, or has a guess why my mileage seemingly is a bit lower than what I personally expected, or this is about accurate.

Guessing you are driving around 80mph? I did a 3500 mile trip this winter driving those speeds and got about the same. Doing my typical 220 mile 75 mph hwy and two lane 65 mph road trip I get 18 to 20 mpg. Speed and wind kills mpg on these trucks. It was the same thing with my ZR2. Also saw a seemingly mpg drop on winter gas but did not have the truck very long before the switch.

Thats odd to me. I have been getting between 21 and 24 on summer gas just driving to work which isnt highway miles , mostly in town. Winter gas gave me between 18 and 20. I do not have procal installed , its stock with 7500 miles on it at this point. Driving in normal mode. A few times this winter I had it in slippery mode , but not many.

That sounds about right. Driving over 75 you’re likely at 2200 RPM or more. Add wind it’s definitely higher and in 7th or 8th gear as the truck wants to be ready to react to acceleration.
Yesterday I was set at 80 in high winds and got around 14.8 on 91 octane (no ethanol). I was in normal mode in 2wd. Also running pro cal.
I also think our winter gas is part of the problem. Been averaging 15.9 this winter while I was getting closer to 17.5 last year with same driving habits. Second contributor would be I remote start in winter a lot to bring the truck up to operating temps before setting off.

After getting my first and only speeding ticket, I know that is not a brag point, I started driving right at the speed limit and increased mpg + 3. Im now close to 18 combined.
Do I miss getting all over it? Yes I do! I’m sure the ticket shock will pass but for now I’m slowing my roll.

On my RR I didn’t get improved mileage until about 5-6k miles. A little wear on the tires and a little break in made a couple mpg difference.

Most all that are getting 20+ mpg are in 2.3 and 2.7 Rangers. I’d question anyone saying they’re getting 20 mpg in a Raptor.

With a FP tune, there’s no way that’s happening. If you’re getting 15-17 mpg, this is the norm for any RR with an FP tune. Anything beyond 17 mpg in the RR, is not normal driving.🇺🇸

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Texas highways are all about 80

Judging by your profile picture and what the others are saying - it’s probably due to mine being a raptor

I know it will be hard for me to avoid speeding tickets. You don't get a good sensation of the speed you are going. I was driving along the interstate doing what I thought was 70, looked down at the speedometer I was at 85.
One week of ownership without a ticket, I'll take that as a win.

I've definitely seen some horrendous fuel economy driving across west texas. At one point, I had been averaging ~85mph with a strong headwind and after filling up the tank, my estimated range was something like 270 miles.

In 17 tanks i have had two in the 18 mag range, 2 in the 17s, 5 in the 16s and many more in the 14 and 15 range.

I seem to get about 1.5 mpg better than my full size 37 package Raptor on the same trips. I would have thought it would be better but anything north of 12 is an improvement from my Gen 1 and appreciated. The RR is just a smaller brick going through the wind.
