Not sure what to think of the technology, but is it available on the 2025MY Ranger? Anyone try it out or have any opinions of the efficacy? I saw the map of available roads and at least around my city it's only the major highways. Not fond of the subscription based model, although you can buy it outright, I guess. But that just means the vehicles are equipped, just not activated. So you're paying to enable the software. Does 2024 Ranger have all the needed hardware for BlueCruise? Curious if it would ever be available for 2024MY as an update, not that I'd pay for it; the ACC works fine enough for me, as annoying as it is sometimes.

Opinions?

I doubt the Ranger would get it anytime soon. Link below.

Ford BlueCruise Availability

I've never driven anything that is synonymous to BlueCruise. I'm sure it would be neat though.

I have multiple co-workers with it on their vehicles. So far it seems like it only really comes in useful on road trips using highways. I would personally just subscribe for a month if I knew I was going on a trip, otherwise for day-to-day driving I would not bother.

It feels safe to use on long straight roads, tends to veer towards empty space when there is a gap in the road paint.

Any turn that requires commitment does not feel safe or manageable using blue cruise. It will quit on sharper than normal 70mph curves and when it does quit it announces it with 3 beeps and good luck.

Blue cruise does feel like a 3rd hand on the wheel or someone who is pro at driving with their knee.

Has it saved my ass? You betcha! Has it tried to homicide a riding mower? Also yes! I recommend it with the caveat that it is like guided driving with someone else’s knee.

I kind of like adaptive cruise with lane keep rather than lane centering. Steering the truck keeps me paying attention and if I get road hypnosis or I'm playing around with my phone its likely to bail me out. I didn't like the lane centering with the constant prompt to wiggle the steering wheel, more trouble than its worth right now.

Haven't seen anything about it coming to the ranger.

However this is an open-source self driving system that does work with our trucks https://comma.ai/ . Someone posted on here a while back showing it working with his truck and I think the device doubles as a dashcam.

I was seriously considering buying the Comma3x, but our adaptive cruise and lane keep is damn close to self-driving as it is.

BlueCruise is available on the 2025 Ranger, but not the 2024 model. The 2024 Ranger doesn’t have all the required hardware, so it can’t be added later with a software update.

The system only works on pre-mapped highways, so if most of your driving is in the city or on backroads, it won’t be very useful. The subscription model is a downside for some, but at least Ford gives the option to buy it outright.

If you’re happy with ACC, BlueCruise might not be worth it for you. It’s more of a hands-free convenience than a big game-changer.

Where are you seeing that it is available on MY25 Rangers? Only looking at US/NA but it is not listed as an option on the build page, it is not mentioned on the Ranger technology page, or on the BlueCruise page.

Both MY24 and 25 have Ford Co-Pilot 360 on XLT trims and above but that is for stuff like BLISS and ACC.
