Deleted member 6753

I believe I’ll do the same, I may take delivery of my RR and sell it stright away. I should be able to make 5 or 6 Gs

This is unfortunate. Looks like they opted to ditch the offering entirely. The issue is the EBB system not remaining active during flat tow. It shuts down and certain supplemental braking systems becomes ineffective. However it will still work if you use a braking system designed for unboosted braking afaik. This has been a long ongoing thing regarding Ford EBB systems and flat towing.

What is disappointing however is this only applies to the Nano engines for NA and all available engines I believe in ROW. Those power plants all use an EBB module. The 2.3L EcoBoost afaik still uses a traditional vacuum booster. Since it’s only one out of six engine offerings they must’ve decided to scrap the mention of recreational flat towing entirely. Hopefully this can be an OTA update but because it’s a Battery Management System issue (afaik) it might not be that simple. Also there are quite a few module updates needed to provide the sequence to allow flat towing.

I am also annoyed by this info, BUT, the 2024 Ford RV & Trailer Towing Guide is not out yet (https://www.ford.com/towing/#rv, only has up to 2023). When the release the 2024 guide, you'll have your definitive answer.

I believe it maybe a software issue tie to the full time all wheel drive. but my understanding is they will correct for the 2025. So i’m struggling with do I cancel my order and wait for the 2025 hoping it is correct or buy a Canyon now & screw ford.

I am not going to be flat towing for a couple more years, so I'll wait it out and see if it's a software fix once we all RAGE about it, or just trade again in the few years (not what I intended to do)

I called Ford and asked about this specific flat tow issue and they said that it will be configured for flat tow. Now I'm not sure what to believe.

This is somewhat of a deal breaker for me, my intention was to tow the RR with our class A motor home. I read a post this morning that the 2024 raptor and Rangers will not be flat tow Ready. So the only option would be to trailer tow. I have them checking if I step down too. XLT Tremor would it be towable so waiting on word. I may have a RR coming that I don’t want.
Were you at MSRP ?

I just contacted my dealer directly and they confirmed that the 24 Ranger won't be flat towable despite the initial guarantee on my order date that it would be and offered to refund my deposit... I have to have flat tow, so I'm out!

I can’t think of any unique issue to the Ranger that would require them to omit the offering of flat tow. However because it’s a brand new model launch in an existing dilemma regarding flat tow on similar products then it would make sense why they would strip it until it is resolved.

It hasn’t been in the owners manual of any 6th generation Ranger so far so it’s been a long standing decision

The new Rangers and raptors have full time 4 wheel drive I beleive it has to do with the inability to disconnect possibly a software issue.

No that’s not the issue I reference. There has been a long standing complaint about issues with flat towing due to EBB. However if the issue is with the TCCM that would make minimal sense because it’s the same unit offered in the Bronco and has been in customers hands for way too long at this point to not be addressed for the Ranger launch.

The TSB for flat tow issues on the Bronco involve removing a fuse for the EBB but it remains only a TSB. I believe a software fix is due soon to address that which, should, open back up flat-tow on the Ranger.
