Normally I try to stay off the local “summer roads” in NE Washington this time of year, they are unmaintained raw dirt farm tracks. The soil is clay and can be very deep in low spots where water collects. It was sunny and reasonably warm, so I went for it. The stock tires worked surprisingly well, as long as you kept some speed so that the tread could clear itself.

I did not get stuck, though I thought I was going to be a couple of times. This truck continues to astound and please me, its capabilities are much higher than my own skills.

I wish, there aren’t many of those around here. A light rain system came through, so I got up at 2:00AM this morning to drive around on wet roads, It took twenty miles of that before most of the muck was gone. Then I went by the self serve car wash and blasted off what was left. I did not want it to soil my driveway or garage.

It is interesting to see the splatter pattern, the two stupid large (and unnecessary) open holes on top of the running boards let the mud reach the doors and build up on top RIGHT where the driver has to step. Almost like some evil engineer intended it that way.

I thought that my flaps would stop that completely. I don’t especially want to block them all the time. But this is available with a blue logo…

I bet there is a USA or Amazon source, does anybody know? My history with the Australian shipping is very mixed. My last item got lost in Europe for three months.

It’s a GFC, the logo is visible on the side panels., At this time I do NOT recommend it for any Ranger owners, the rear hatch design is faulty.

I'm glad I'm not the only who has been surprised/irritated by the "splash pattern". Based on the kind of wheeling I do, mud flaps aren't an option (I've broken them off of my last 3 trucks, so I think I've finally learned my lesson... lol), so I just have to deal with whatever the truck kicks up (which is why I went with full coverage PPF and ceramic). And what's been driving me nuts is that every time I go through mud, it slings it all over the door handle! So there's then no way to get in the truck without grabbing a handful of mud 🤣🤦🏼‍♂️.

In other news, the PPF (which I've never had on a vehicle before this) is holding up amazingly. I sling rocks and sand and bushes and mud at it, and somehow it remains flawless. Not even the dog's paws hangin over the bedside, nor a careless teenager (leaning over the bedside to get something out of the bed, while rubbing a metal buckle on the truck 🤦🏼‍♂️) have been able to do anything to it. Definitely worth the cost if anyone is on the fence about it!
