Perfect idea! And I have a bunch of them on hand.if you are worried about spray or roll in liner getting into holes and stuff, put expanding ear plugs into the holes. we do that in our paint shop on helicopter transmissions and gearboxes. they seal perfectly and are quick to put in and take out
Any issues with water getting trapped underneath is between the mat & liner causing rust?I bought this one from Amazon, bit was perfect and a lip around the perimeter so that most any water doesn't run off the edge and end up under the mat. Quality seems very good and I'd buy again...
Not if the bed has been spray lined. My '21 didn't have spray in liner. I installed a bed mat from Ford. The problem wasn't water being trapped; it was dirt and grit that will work its way under the mat.Any issues with water getting trapped underneath is between the mat & liner causing rust?
They absolutely covered right over all of that. I had a heck of a time getting enough of the line-x off in order to remove the torx bolts when I needed to remove the tie downs to install a swing out bed box. Stripped one that I'll be pickup up a replacement for at the dealer tomorrow. Only come in a bag of four I was told so I'll have extras for next time!I'm thinking about Line X and wonder about prep.
The bed has the tie down cleats and a number of unused threaded holes. I'm thinking it might be wise to remove the tie down cleats and then put bolts in those and all the other threaded holes.
It seems like the Line X folks would cover or otherwise consider these things. I'll ask specifically in advance.
I had a Spray In Bedliner on ma XLT before I got a service body and i used it for wood cutting loads and even a full tub of quartz pebbles and never had an issue. just water blasted it all off and out. If you genuinely having some splitting and chipping, I'd say talk to Ford.... Sounds like it wasn't prepped...My factory spray-in bedliner seems to scrape easily showing a whilte residue !
Anyone else experience a "not so tough"
Factory bedliner? I would think it would be tougher and harder and more resistant to scraping when carrying items in the bed!
DittoRhino linings plus the bed rug removable washable bed mat my favorite combo.
Well, I've also installed a Leer tri-fold hard Tonneau cover that prevents almost all water (self-wash at car wash, a very small amount leaks in, prolly forced under the rubber seal at the back of the cover), and so far it has all gone onto the rubber mat and when lifted, I see no evidence of water under it.Any issues with water getting trapped underneath is between the mat & liner causing rust?
This is pretty normal, even for aftermarket. I had LineX in my last two trucks and it behaved the same. It's a rough surface. Anything you drag on it will leave some kind of mark. It's not the liner getting damaged, but residue for whatever you're dragging. It's like sandpaper. My factory spray-in bedliner seems to scrape easily showing a whilte residue !
