Slid my Ranger Raptor around a track the other day, because I've always wanted to:

For being out of its element, everything held up surprisingly well. No brake fade with the frequent braking zones at M1 Concourse. When really pushing it for a few laps, oil temp maxed out around 248ºF, trans temp ~230ºF and quickly came down to normal temp after a 2 min cool-down lap. Not too concerned about this w/frequent oil changes and shortened trans fluid service intervals.

A traction control error came up a couple times after extended hard driving in 2H with traction/stability control off. TCS would turn back on, I couldn't change drive modes, access my mode, or turn off TCS. Truck still had full power though. The error quickly went away as soon as temps cooled. I imagine this is mostly in place to get the driver to back off when temps get hot.

KO3 performance in the wet was a big improvement over when I first got the truck. After about 1500 miles I noticed wet traction improve substantially on the street. This "track test" confirmed it. Rear tire wear after dozens of laps sideways in the wet was barely noticeable. Curious to see how the KO3 does in the snow and ice later this year.

Oh, and this was a freakin' riot. The only other truck I've driven that handles like this is the F-150 Raptor, but the Ranger is lighter, more nimble, and easier to control at the limit. Gotta love it. Hope you guys enjoy the video!

Would be interesting to see if a couple 50lb sand bags in the rear corners of the bed would make a difference. I would use these in my F-150 shortbox during the winter and did notice better 2WD traction. Have not had the chance to drift but the truck does break traction in 2H in the wet/dirt roads with some nanny features somewhat disabled (can't truly disable completely).
Will be interesting to see if anyone gets their insurance cancelled because of Ford selling driving data to others.

Awesome video and excellent driving. What tire pressure were you running?

Are you doing the Raptor Assault school as well? Would be cool to see some footage of that if they allow you to.

🙌 tire pressure was around 35psi f/r.

No plans to right now but I’ve thought about it. If I’m ever in the area I’ll see if I can film a video.

Great video. I just picked up my truck on the 10th but there have been a few instances where it felt tail happy while accelerating through a corner. Finally turned off AdvanceTrac on my rainy commute this morning and oh boy... I could get it trouble real quick.

That looks like a lot of fun! Sure, it may be "out of its element", but you have an advantage over other drifters. If you go 'off track' in a slide, you could easily recover. Not many other drifters could, especially in wet situations.

2H is sketchy in the wet! Definitely strapping down a couple sand bags in the bed this winter. 4A is definitely the way to go if it's not bone dry out.

Haha, it's true - I was thinking, "track limits start and end at the wall today."

Love it. Full Screen on a hi res monitor with the audio turned up - woohoo! Thanks for posting.

Actually I drive my Raptor like that all the time! Or at least it feels hat way, it is a trucklet that demands your attention like a hyperactive puppy, and it begs to be flogged. Its limits are way way past my own.

Thanks for the video! I was the one who commented on YouTube about the 12 o’clock TC thing. You inspired me to mount my wheel and cockpit on the living room again to practice and perfect it on a safe environment LoL
