This is a design Ive been working on similar to some other members for mounting 1 or 2 Diode Dynamics SSC2s in the Ranger Raptor front bumper on either side of the radar module. Just did the first test fit and it went great. I currently only have 2x SSC2s at the moment for the fit but there plenty of room for another. In the configuration shown below I used SSC2 Pros with the combo lens options and I flipped the lens 180Âş for one of them to have the spots in the center and the wider throwing lights on the outside to basically be supplemental fogs.

The brackets are 1/8" steel powder coated matte black.Installation is very straightforward although it does require some very tight maneuvering with the ole fingers. I’m working on testing some different mounting hardware to make it a breeze though.

I am also going to be making a custom wiring harness for the lights that go to the up fitter switches. Considering offering this as a kit (wiring + brackets) to be as easy and as plug-and-play as possible if there's any interest. The wiring harness should be able to be installed completely out of view by only removing the top plastic shroud in the engine bay (not having to pull off the grill or anything like that).

ps I might be able to make another design to fit SS3s. let me know the thoughts

What would be different on your custom wiring harness compared to the DD harness?

DD harness is great ive used them a bunch in the past but it comes with a bunch of wiring that we dont need. If u plan to use the upfitter switched u dont need the relay and the switch that comes with the dd harness.
Planning to make some that are as simple as they need to be to connect the 2 or 4 light, using deutsch connectors, straight to the upfitter wiring in the engine bay. Can have it so all 4 are combined to one switch or 2 lights to each switch. I can also add flexibility for adding the combined back light functionality to one switch.

idea would be to have it super clean and slim and just the right length so that it doesnt add clutter to the engine bay… been there and done that so trying to do better this time around.

open to hearing what people would want.
I’m planning on making mine tomorrow to get get the wire lengths sorted out. Ill probably add deutsch connects onto the upfitter switch harness so that wires can easily be added or swapped around to different switches with a waterproof connection that doesnt require cutting wires every time.

Longer response that whats probably needed… but also want to clarify.. the DD instructions mention the setup with aux switches but this still includes the relay and honestly i hate dealing with relays. They are not waterproof and are a pain to add into the engine bay if u plan on doing multiple of anything. They are also not needed if the rating of the upfitter switch wiring is suitable for the accessories you are adding to that switch. DD SSC2s max out at 2 Amps per light and assuming u mounted 4 to one switch this would be 8 Amps total draw ( with the pro version of the lights) which is no problem for any switch other than switch #1 (has 5A rating). So no direct to batter connections need to be made. Switch one is a good opportunity for backlights to be linked to.

I’m interested in your kit when it is available. I would be running just 2 sc2 pros. 1 each side.

After looking at The DD harness I thought it was way more complicated than it needed to be.

Ill get started on it on it asap. Ill let you know timing and price in a few days. No need to commit now before its all ready. Ill also post updates on the wiring once thats done but ill make copies in parallel.

@quickstang1

Here's the update, finished up mine today and it worked out really well with some lessons along the way of course:

1. Wiring harness I made up worked out great. super simple. I ended up linking both my mains to Aux switch 2 and the amber backlights to aux switch 1. (photo of harness below)
I did learn however that it is a pain in the a** to put a Deutsch connector on the aux switch wiring in the engine bay because of how short the wires are that Ford left us. That means it might just be easier to use some crimp connectors there.

2. I already learned this lesson with the pre-fit but it's really hard to hold a nut in the top side of the factory bumper holes and then get a bolt through it. I managed but I don't wish it on anyone. I ordered some U-clip nuts to go there instead so you just have to put a bolt through. This should work good as that's how Ford uses those holes anyways for things like the license plate mount.

Overall lights worked first time switching them on. I found a really solid way of routing the wiring harness without having to remove anything but the top plastic shroud in the engine bay (it only uses those plastic push pins) and I am in the process of writing up step by step instructions while I wait for more parts to arrive.
