Just saw the new redesigned Colorado at my local dealership. Was not what I was expecting. It was a trail boss. No cruise control, interior seemed cheap, and the front ground clearance was extremely low (zoom in on photo). My Subaru has more clearance than this so called trail machine. I also noticed the bed you could see a large weld strip that made the truck look unfinished.

Just ranting. This confirmed my choice of getting a Ranger instead. Can’t wait to see the new Rangers!

IMO the chevy looks great but everything else is severely lacking, and i agree the interior is so cheap it reminds me of what i had on my 2014 chevy sonic. i've been following the forums over there and there have been an unsettling amount of issues that people are seeing under 1000 miles with these trucks.

the front end clearence would likely be a lot better if you remove the air-dam. im guessing EPA regs are forcing all the makers to include these dumb pieces of plastic, look at how bad the toyota air dam looks.

I've been cross-shopping a LT equipped as close as I can to a '24 XLT w/tow package, if it wasn't for my ability to purchase using A/Z-Plan, it would be a tough choice.

The trail boss is based off of the WT (the lowest trim) so I would expect it to have a cheap interior. I’m sure you will find nicer materials as you go up the trims. Ford does this too so expect the same in the ranger. The XL will feel cheaper than the lariat.

Well they had a new 23 GMC Canyon there that was a lot more expensive and still had the problems with the front end clearance and the interior wasn’t much of an upgrade and still had the unfinished weld in the box. I also looked at a used 22 ZR2 but not worth the price for a 4 banger compared to a Raptor. Just my observation.

Here is the ground clearance for the Colorado from chevys website.
WT - 7.9ā€
LT - 7.9ā€
Trail Boss - 9.5ā€
Z71 - 8.9ā€
ZR2 - 10.7ā€

Here is the 2024 Ranger(from the tech sheets posted here a while back)

4x2 - 8.8ā€
4x4 - 9.3ā€
Raptor - 10.7ā€

Still waiting on my dealer to get some colorados in so I can check them out for myself. All of the midsizers in this new generation are really competitive, so much so that it’s the first time I’ve really considered anything besides Ford.

I’m a Ford dude but dang their prices seem high. I was thinking 2.7 Tremor Lariat next year but adding a couple grand for each and the cost is over a Raptor theoretically. To be honesr the Raptor looks like a good deal but getting one is a challenge in itself. Just my opinion but Ford pricing on the Ranger seems strange. Lariat FX4 is salty compared to a Raptor in my opinion. The tiering and pricing seems way off, I am not surprised sales on everything but the Raptor are low. Ford seems to be missing an opportunity but I guess it’s not electric or hybrid so they don’t care. A great vehicle for sure but is it a good value compared to other mid size trucks? I just can’t see anything but a Ford in my driveway but I won’t drop 53K on a vehicle just to have a blue oval. I’m torn for sure, kind of a disappointment. Those of you getting a Raptor, you did well!!! Comparititively speaking. I was hoping the Ranger would drive up the stock prices like the Maverick…I own a few shares šŸ˜‰. I am afraid this will be a flop for non-Raptors. It’s still early. My Maverick is looking more and more like a steal.

I looked at, and drove a new Trail Boss model. My thinking was ā€œless is moreā€. Realistically it had just about everything I need, but not want. The glaring omission is no stand alone navigation. I drive frequently in no cell signal areas.

"Greedflation" - Farley has been out signaling against a price war with Tesla on BEVs and the auto industry in general continues the story about shortages when there is increasing evidence that companies are using it as an excuse to push up prices and shore up demand.

Much easier for Ford and others to offer rebates etc off a high price than push up prices from a lower MSRP. The " Ford Retail Order Bonus Customer Cash Certificate" seems to be a tool demonstrating that.

Fortunately I can wait this out since I don't need a truck yet and want to see them reviewed in detail and at a local dealer before ordering. Taco availability probably pushes that decision out into 2024, but unfortunate for those that need to buy now.

Chevy really dropped the ball with the Trail Boss coming with halogen only headlights.

It is about to be 2024 - what kind of retard thinking is this. Even if it would have increased the price tag by $1,000 - most people will take that hands down. Or at very least offer it as an option.
